What was noticeable too was the number of poor goalkeeping performances throughout the leagues.
I noticed that as well .. the number of low shots that scored against big 'commanding' keepers keen to come out to punch and/or collect crosses or rush out to stifle an on-rushing attacker but who are lacking in agility to get down quickly .. the cake of the day must go to the Forest loanee who made a pigs ear of both a low shot and a cross
Not trying to be funny here but Blackburn really should be beating teams like Charlton. What Blackburn under Mowbray look like to me is a complacent, fat lazy club going through the motions. Listened to the Blackburn vlog above and Mowbray is effing useless. Even blames referees not being up to speed on day one as part of the loss. Fans suggesting same issues as last season gone unaddressed. My suggestion to Blackburn Rovers is that a good percentage of your problems stem from Mowbray. Get in someone with a bit of drive and ambition. Mowbray is probably not aware that he’s just going through the motions.
Fuck the result , just hope the little lad who had his ears blown off by our fans is alright
Cheers for that my son is fine he was a little shaken and his hearing was not that clever for a while , stupid thing to do , some get over excited , fuming at the time calmed down now just hope the person who threw it has a good think about wot he did spoilt a great day

As commented on Quest, the second goal for WBA was lucky, but actually very hard to save. The keeper was in the right position but the ball went in top corner and he would have have to be 8 ft to have any chance of touching it as it passed over him.
Can't play with nobody outside him. But may learn to. Not sure why Pearce is central of the three.
He can though, he just had a bad game. Pearce is central and Naby is left because that's exactly how it should be; the wider CHs need to be mobile and capable of covering the space that the wing back leaves in the LB position when he goes forward. They need to be able to go out to attackers wide and distribute the ball effectively when deep. All of these things are exactly within Naby's skillset, and he's capable of playing LB so it's the perfect position for him, he just needs to adapt a little bit more to it. Pearce is a great physical defender but he's nowhere near mobile enough to get out to wingers and close them down. Naby's getting the jitters again, which he's got a history of; hopefully he'll settle down again because this formation suits him very well
Firstly the Charlton fans (apart from the idiot) were fantastic and never stopped singing. I love away days! The Blackburn fans on the other hand were probably the quietest I've ever seen - no passion and that must translate to the team.
That was no smash and grab and I think we just deserved the win, although maybe a draw would have reflected the game and we wouldn't have been disappointed. Gallagher looked sharp when he came on and I think we've got a good one there. Nabby in a back three doesn't work and we looked far more composed when we went 4 at the back. Purrington is class and gets better and better. Dijksteel had his work cut out in the first half with their left winger and I'm not sure why they switched him to the right in the second half as for me he was clearly their best player. Williams when involved showed what a quality player he is - could perhaps have been more involved though. Morgan cannot go out on loan! 100% effort from everyone and we can't ask for more than that whether win, lose or draw.

well, each to his own opinion, I maintain that a 'good keeper' would and should have been aware and agile enough to have saved the 'cross' .. just cos the questers say so, does not mean it is so
Albie Morgan's touch is ridiculously good. What a win. Let's have it right though they were miles better than us!
This lad should not be sent out on loan, fantastic result but think we sort of nicked a win today - every game isn’t going to happen this way - 45 more points required, well done boys.

If he does go out on loan tie him down to a four year deal first!!... Dont want him going out, impressing and attracting attention from clubs higher than us, especially if he's potentially out of contract in a year or two (length of that currently unknown)

Of course, not. I was merely agreeing with them on that one.

that's the beauty of life .. so very few certainties, so many differing opinions, even totally wrong ones lol .. ((:>)
Well you guys robbed us blind today. But in all fairness we didnt deserve anything. Our defense needs an overall, we may have the tools to score some goals, but even the simplest errors and we look like bambi on ice. Fair play and hope your season pans out nicely.
Catch my thoughts, words from our Gaffa and a couple of fans points of view.
You were the better team but we didn't rob you blind. We deployed our lesser resources to maximum effect and overcame the odds. Being the wealthier more experienced club and team does not automatically mean a defeat to a club with more challenges is a robbing, you were defeated because we scored two actual proper goals, you (we) scored one fortunate one. We remain favourites for relegation, you will likely be OK.

And @shadowmeister79 , if you believe that, Blackburn are going down...

Been saying it for a while, this kids a bit special, he doesn't make many bad decisions and the disguised pass without even looking up for JFC against senior pros yday was a thing of beauty.
He should be given a free reign with 2 experienced midfielders doing his donkey work.
Slightly sore head this morning but what a great day!
Beautiful sunshine all day in Manchester, realised on the train from London they Salford City were at home to Stevenage in the early kick off so we were able to go and watch that before the main event.
We played very well, were able to withstand pressure from Blackburn without allowing them to create too many chances. I haven’t seen any pre-season games so it was my first time seeing Lockyer and I was very impressed. He is short for a CB but he is able to make up for it with fantastic reading of the game and always being in the right place at the right time.
Sarr is a liability and was subbed off for similar reasons as Wembley but I think we should be able to switch to a 4 at the back system most games with Purrington, Pearce, Lockyer and Dijksteel looking up to the challenge.
There will be tougher tests to come but a successful start to our return to the Championship.
*I hope the little boy who was sat right next to where the flare/firework was thrown in the first half is ok. Whoever threw it is an idiot.
Fuck the result , just hope the little lad who had his ears blown off by our fans is alright

Was sitting right behind you. Cracker landed right next to my sons feet. Glad to hear your son is ok and hope it doesn’t put him off as he looked like he was really enjoying himself beforehand.
Albie Morgan showed real class when he came on. He has the potential to be a lot better than Cullen for me hopefully he gets a chance to go out on loan to get a proper run of games under his belt.
Question for everyone calling Sarr a liability: how many times did his errors lead directly to goalscoring chances? Conceding a corner doesn't count obviously. And then how many times did his errors lead to goalscoring chances last season? I can't remember many. As someone who's played in a back 4 all his life, playing on the side of a back 3 isn't a change he can make overnight. I'm sure he'll grow into the role. It's sad to see him getting written off by so many after the season he had last time. In home games especially it would be useful to have players who can link defence with attack and we don't have better than him at that

I know that you will ignore any failings in Sarr’s game but Bowyer had to remove Sarr from the game yesterday, as he did at Wembley, before he made a mistake that led to a goal and/or got himself sent off.
I think in the main Sarr had a really good season in League One last year, it’s probably about his level.
Oshilaja looked pretty decent in his short cameo, I wouldn’t be surprised if he moves ahead of Sarr in the pecking order eventually.

Thanks yeh he was enjoying himself the atmosphere was suoerb as was the result , just hope whoever threw it realised someone could get seriously hurt stupid thing to do , hope yourself and people with you are ok , great support addicks .
There's no doubt Blackburn bossed possession and delivered countless crosses into the box and numerous corners but I think we dealt with just about everything they threw at us and don't recall them missing any sitters, we defended for our lives yes but did it extremely well.
Sarr does not work in a back five but this does not make him a bad player. That said Pearce for me has played his way back into the team ahead of Sarr whether we play 4 or 5 at the back he was an absolute warrior.
Also just to add that drum they had was annoying it just kept constantly banging away for the most of the game without lifting the home crowd. There was only a handful of people scattered around in the block the drummer was in too. An odd guy he'd be better off behind the Blackburn home goal getting the crowd involved.
A great day out. Expected nothing and got a proper Charlton away performance and result.
Can't believe it - what Bowyer has done in the circumstances is absolutely extraordinary.
I know this sounds silly because it has been one game and we will do well to stay up, but there is something about seeing Charlton in 3rd place in the Championship that makes me so happy.
The 23rd best team in the country.... for now. It is miles away from watching Crofts and Foley get played off the park at Bury away this time 3 years ago!
Just like to say thanks to all those people who asked about my son after the firecrackers incident , he is fine shaken at the time but ok now , also hope the rest of the people who where in the vicinity are all ok , apart from the incident our fans where different class again , we sat downstairs after half time and looking up it looked very impressive , the team superb they obviously love playing for Bows , looking at the commitment they are giving 120% let’s hope it continues throughout the season , long way to go but staying is this league isn’t beyond us .
thanks to Blackburn staff and medical team for looking after my boy, top drawer .

Where the hell was he going walkabout for the QPR first goal?
He's a player I cant wait to see down the Valley next week but that was embarrassing for a Goalkeeper with England experience
