Get in there! Been out most of the afternoon, I know most of you thought I was proper Charlton☺️. See you at Barnsley next week! Said we are top the league, said we are top the league😝.

Not quite, but I will consider taking 2nd come May.
Followed the 2nd half of the match thread in a cab back from Gatwick. Went bonkers for both 2nd half goals and scared the crap out of the cabbie. Gave him a decent tip as I was buzzing when he dropped me off. COYA
Great performance really enjoyed that. Rode our luck a bit with them hitting the woodwork twice but we looked a threat all game. Great attacking intent. We’ll probably let in a few at times but was brilliant atmosphere.
My message to Aussies Chinese Arabs red bull who ever is thinking of buying us is quick buy us now because bowyers taking us to the premier league and Roland will want billions for us then. COYR
At least we don't have to worry about Taylor's mindset. Worked very hard, okay didn't celebrate his goal but was beaming for Aneke's.
To be fair, I think it’s quite a common reaction to be almost apologetic when you’re gifted a goal by a goalkeeping ricket like that. (Just look at Leadbitter (I think) when Sunderland got their goal at Wembley.)
Lyle knew the shot wasn’t quite right and shouldn’t have gone in.
That was alright wasn't it. How the hell did Cullen not go to a premiership club. So pleased he is back. Feet on the ground and all that, but very excited about our potential this season. Anyone fancy Wembley again?
6 points more than 3 teams and still the possibility of a 138 maximum is still on. If only we had an owner who would celebrate success with us, I doubt he has ever felt blind optimism like me
Much to enjoy about that match. Very competitive game, aided by a ref letting it flow. Two famous old clubs trying to win and playing at a frenetic pace. What the Championship is all about.
Make no mistake, Stoke looked the better side for a couple of significant spells and could’ve been 3 or 4-1 up themselves. However, it came down to who took their chances and, for a change, it was the newly promoted side handing out the tough lesson.
The pros: All the new signings made good contributions and there was no sign of anyone failing to buy into the Bowyer work ethic. Leko looked a real handful and much better than the reviews of the West Brom fans. Gallagher grew into the game and looked a class act by the end. Cullen slotted in like he never left. Johnny Williams’ best game for us. Thought he was brilliant today.
The Cons: The defence was definitely creaking at times. We looked particularly vulnerable on the turnover because we lack recovery pace across the back four and in the defensive midfield positions. Played ourselves into trouble a lot with to many passes across the defence, a number of which were under hit.
6 from 6 though... a start none if us expected. 12% of the safety target achieved.
New players still to bed in and the squad as a whole will adapt better to the pace of the Championship in the coming weeks. Bodes well.
Great attacking threat- I thought Gallagher was superb; some of the link up play between him and Williams was superb. I really don’t know how Bowyer manages to convince these players to come.
Bowyer is carrying on from last season and he’s building something special. We will compete in this league. We have a team that won’t give up. He knows what you need in a winning team. It’s shows in the type of midfielders he brings in - energetic, mobile, skilful and aggressive. Gallagher looks a great prospect and I can’t wait to see Field and Kayal. We had promising starts under Peeters and Luzon, but I can feel this is very different.
We won today with Aneke coming off the bench, Field, Kayal and Morgan not even in the squad. We’re looking to add a right back and hopefully Hemed or another striker.
Opponents and their fans will underestimate us. Clubs with recent Prem history in particular will expect to dominate possession. Their fans will get frustrated because we’ll fight for every ball and nick goals against the run of play. Even if they do control the game we’ll find ways into games, we have players who will create chances.
Our goals today were the type of goals we were scoring throughout last season -
Taylor’s a quick attack from the back. We’ll catch teams out when space opens up like that. Bowyer teams pass out from the back, but they also know when to go more direct and up the tempo. Nice to see long pass from Leko set up the goal, a player who you might imagine gets his head down and runs rather than picks out a ball like that. Brilliant to see Taylor score, especially like that after all that’s happened recently.
Watch Aneke’s in full if you can. Williams drives into the box to try to create a cut back. It doesn’t come off so Cullen tried exactly the same thing and it came off. It’s clearly a way Bowyer wants them to attack because it’s so effective. We scored goals and won penalties doing just that all season long last year. We have midfielders and attackers who can pass and dribble their way into those positions. One reason it’s so dangerous is that you don’t need top strikers to score those chances. It’s about getting those players into the right areas and reacting before the opposition do.
Gallagher’s goal came from a set piece. From stats I remember seeing late last season we perhaps surprisingly were one of the top scorers in the league from either corners or set pieces.
Powell was the best manager since Curbs and did a very good job for us, but Bowyer has overtaken him. He’s a genius and is our best chance of experiencing that sort of success again. We’re competitive but play good football and it’s far better than any of that tippy tappy stuff the likes of Robinson and Peeters tried to play.
We’re going over achieve in terms of our budget. Maybe that will only mean lower mid table but whatever happens it’ll be a season to remember. Whether you’re going to games or watching streams do whatever you can to make sure you see as much as you can. It might even mean the play-offs again. With the madness of the past five years the chances of another bizarre and ridiculous twist in which Roland owns the club as we march back into the Premier League with a tiny budget can’t be completely ruled out.
First game at the Valley for 10 years... Didn't realise how much I'd missed it!
Gallagher - wow this kid could be something special Johnny Williams - great intelligent running Pratley - seems to be aging like a fine wine on that performance, broke play up well and used the ball well Chucks - unit... Reminded me of Jason euell Leko - great running at times, not sure about the end product.. Exciting prospect Cullen - Great engine, doesn't put a foot wrong - reminded me of a young Scott Parker when he first came back from loan at Norwich....
Taking the rose tinted eye apparel off for a moment... Defence looked a little shakey at times, however I appreciate they are trying to play from the back out... Just need to put your foot through it sometimes though!!!!
Great result and good effort for the atmosphere in the North Stand... Cmon you reeeddddsss
Stoke were good but hit the bar and post and missed a sitter Our defence was not tight and gave the ball away too much, the midfield battled and Taylor Williams and Leko a constant threat as was Chuck when he came on. 3 shots on target and 3 goals says it all Us lot were marvellous and really make a 12th man Someone said that Lyle did not celebrate his goal, I thought he did The only negative was the messing around between Dils and the back four and their wish to pass to the opposition A well managed game with good subs

Think LB, SG and the coaching are performing miracles under the budget constraints.
(Just look at Leadbitter (I think) when Sunderland got their goal at Wembley.)

But of course 99% of the credit still needs to go to Bowyer & Co.

We're a bit casual in defence and need to get the ball out quicker.
Stoke look a decent side and 3-1 is a very good result - 2 wins from twò certainly unexpected.
