Some really well informed guys on this thread; as well as Sage ! Was at a game, and spoke to a guy who works for Cafc and he explained all about the Cat A situation and how they can get players on the cheap and why it's important that we get Cat A ASAP. If I read this thread earlier I would have asked about Daniel Kanu. It's Catch-22 while we remain in League1.
Interesting that Joe Gomez's dad is helping Cafc by chatting to our best young academy boys and telling them they will get an opportunity to progress to Cafc 1st team before they would at a premier team.
The reality for Cafc and Thomas Sandgaard is it's an elitist system and its difficult to hold on to your best academy players while we have the lower category.
Until we can achieve a higher category there is more reason, as the club says, to provide a credible route through. Signings for signings sake is no encouragement for the young players, especially if the signings only have more experience to offer, but not more ability. Developing young players also represents a saving when resources are tight.

*All of these players were pictured, I'm assuming they are still here.
Do we know of any of those offered contracts turned them down? Not sure I would know where to look but think the club did announce whom they had offered contracts to.
Remember watching a youth tournament match a couple of years back and Seydil Toure was about twice the size of everyone else. Interested to see how he gets on this year.
Would be great to see Leaburn play for us one day as well.
Kanu looks a very decent prospect. Won pretty much everything in the air and held it up pretty well against some uncompromising defenders. Two assured finishes too and occupied their defence. Big lad but very mobile and was in the right place at the right time.
Special mention for Mack Reilly too. First time I have seen him but he absolutely had their full back on toast. Deceptively quick and happy to go inside or outside which helped with his goal as the defender didn't know which way to turn and ended up on his arse more than once.
It was a great game to watch and a draw was just about fair in the end
My coffee hadn't kicked in and I was wondering what Waggy and Danny Hollands was doing in the picture ? 8 years ago !
Danny kegwell is the manager of Cray Wanderers and in a pre season match I saw he came on as sub. Has put on even more timber but is still a beast in his Cameo up front at 38.
Wouldn’t it be great to see timely U18 and U23 highlights on the paid for service Charlton TV? Timely rather than the completely random system we pay for at the moment.
So hope these chaps sign up for us, we seem to have such a strong team and for once some real fire power in the kids. I know he is only 17 but I wonder if Kanu could do a job in the first team? Our strikers are hardly pulling up trees currently.

He’s certainly not ready for first team action yet however he definitely bloody knows where the goal is. A real one to watch in a position we always struggle. Him and Burstow could be up top for ages yet and include Miles Leaburn into the mix and it could be good but give them a few years to develop and don’t put too much pressure on them first

It finished 4-0. Kanu (2) and Ladapo (2) with the goals.
