It's very rare that any performance falls outside of a 4-9 range usually, and most are from 5-8.5, but even so, probably the fairest way of doing it as it forces you to assign an articulated assessment of performance rather than "ugh, Hemed, 2" out of pure emotion. But then the Statbank averages it out anyway from all fans so who really cares lol

Phillips: 6.5 - Didn't have much to do. A really good save, a couple decent saves, not great distribution.
Solly: 5.5 - So many times when we were building down the right side I was shouting "Where is the fullback?" With the diamond, we need width to come from the fullbacks, and he just doesn't seem to get up and back anymore.
Lockyer: 7.5 - Another solid all around performance.
Pearce: 7 - Defensively sound. A lot of last ditch stuff. Poor in possession. This was a game where Sarr would have been better suited, as his passing and ability on the ball can help like defense and midfield further up the pitch.
Purrington: 5.5 - Wasteful in possession and in his final ball. He had games like this last season. His highs aren't that high, but fortunately his lows aren't that low. Wish he had more competition. Will be interesting to see Matthews once he's up to speed.
Cullen: 6.5 - Did his doggies, and did get his head up and try to drive at them. But not to much avail.
Leko: 5.5 - Couldn't get in it, in large part due to lack of service. Showed flashed, but you need to either get the ball to his feet or get him running onto it. We did neither.
Gallagher: 8 - The woman I'm seeing said "Gallagher is clearly their best player" and on yesterday's evidence, it's hard to argue. Lets his man go around the halfway line far too easily for their goal. But other than, he always looked the most likely to make something happen.
Field: 5 - Was poor in linking defense and midfield. Some of that was Birmingham doing a very good job at squeezing the rest of our midfield, not giving us many options. But he struggled to come up with ideas on how to break that.
Oztumer: 4.5 - Just wasn't in it, and was deprived of service.
Hemed: 5 - See above.
Williams: 7 - Went looking for the ball and trying to find pockets of space, they just unfortunately weren't there.

Our worst performance of the season. Worse than Brentford. We were stopped playing by a clever, physical team who pressured us very intelligently. We had games like this last season. Coventry away springs to mind. But we were usually good for bouncing back by starting the next game with a lot of possession on the front foot.
