In fans bar at CAFC and service is crap. No-one there but customers. 8 staff and I am in the middle. Got asked to go to one side of the bar. After 10 mins waiting finally got "served". Asked for a pint of coke. Reply. "Oh we don't do pints of coke!". WTF?? How ridiculous. Why not? "Oh we only sell bottles. I asked since when? Since last week. I walked away before losing it. How can you go into an empty bat when you are 1 of 3 customers, and have to wait for one of them to be served to then be told after needless waiting to be served that they don't do pints of coke.
I am told they do coke at Millwall and that you can get it anywhere in the ground.........allegedly!
Also, and not just in Crossbars, that new payment system. A vast improvement and, not that I ever want a receipt, but you don’t get to see what amount you are paying and nobody once offered me one
Indeed, no room on the miniscule new gizmo to show how much you're paying. Surely that can't be right ? Think I'll pay by cash in future.
Maybe this should be on the agenda for the next FF meeting where, ideally a senior staff member from the new catering company would be present.
In addition, I was also advised by the very young, inexperienced lady who served me around 12.45 when it wasn't busy, that they don't sell shandies ! I explained what a shandy is and she consulted a young guy hovering/loitering behind the bar who told her "it's a beer top up " !
Also is it not possible we can have normal running water in the gents in the East Stand. It trickles then stops. (Surely that is against elf and safety)
Crossbars is getting worse not better £5.20 for a pint of flat lager.no thanks. I've stopped going there this season. Plenty of pubs in and around Greenwich and Maze Hill. Or Plumstead if you are coming from the other direction.
Outsourcing retail to Elite (part of Hummel) seems to work well as they know what they are doing and they combine both shirts and other, leisure wear under one company. I don't buy stuff in the shop but it seems well received.
The opposite seems to be the case with catering.
Much bigger and more complex operation than retail so more can go wrong but the lack of or just incompent senior management within the club, despite Keohane coming from a hospitality background, means that the outsourcing companies are left to flounder.
The club don't really care, they get paid upfront and can wash their hands of any complaints as it's the contractors problem, not theirs. You're not even their "customer" here let alone a fan.
And to a degree the club are right. It's Creative, the catering company, that doesn't train its staff or supervise them properly.
Problem is that most "customers" arent aware and don't care, IMHO, about such distinctions. They are at the Valley, they hold CAFC responsible for the service provided and understandably so.
Agree it should be raised at the fans forum but I constantly read that the FF is a waste of time and any discussion that isn't about the takeover, and most that is, is a distraction.
I can imagine new director Steve Gallen will be delighted to be dealing with catering and loyalty points at the next meeting. The reality is they are just what the FF meetings should be discussing. (25 September IIRC).
Well it is £7 for a veggie burger £8.00 for a normal burger, They use to have pies and chips for £6.50. Either Chicken and mushroom (I hate mushroom). or it was Cornish pasty (they classify a pastry as a pie. It doesn't appear to be on the menu either. It's shit.
Quite liked the pie, only went in there are the cash queue up stairs was 30odd people deep long before it was even half time. Cross bars was still a 15 min wait due to the restrictions of serving beer before the whistle is blown.
