@Covered End thanks for posting. Google says it is 30 mins walk from Hammersmith station, 1.5 mile. Hammersmith is on Piccadilly Line. If you go into Charing Cross you can either walk to Piccadilly Circus and catch Piccadilly line direct or take tube from Charing Cross and change after one stop. From Victoria take Victoria line one stop and change at Green Park; Piccadilly Line westbound.
From Hammersmith Bus station stop C there is apparently a 220 bus (to wandsworth) which takes you within 6 mins walk of ground.
Alternatively there is a 430 bus that goes from South Kensington to within 6 mins of ground.
TFL are running replacement bus services from South Kensington but you may have to change and wouldn't recommend relying on these.
Personally looks as though Hammersmith best option for most.
So......its a train to Victoria & then tube to Green Park, change to Piccadilly line to Hammersmith. Then bus......
And you wonder why I dont just drive from A to B. Climate change protesters take note !!
Don’t know where you’re thinking of parking near the ground.

That paragraph is such a contradiction... "with the excellent public transport links on offer"..... then goes on to say the district line is shut and it is AT LEAST a 20 minute walk from Putney bridge.
Tsk.
Exactly. Public transport is good when it works......when it doesn't I'd rather drive.
Would advise against driving. Traffic in the area a nightmare since Hammersmith has been closed. Putney Bridge, Fulham Palace Road etc all rammed at busy times
Looks like happy Golfie might have to watch this on the box.
Tomorrow has all the ingredients in place for a classic Golfie Gold Away day.
With a bit of luck he’ll miss the first three Fulham goals and our two sending offs whilst he eventually finds a parking space somewhere near Chessington
Go to Hammersmith and much of the walk is along the riverside path.
Putney station to the river is through the shopping centre (5-10 mins max) then cross the river and through the park to Craven Cottage.
Not really worth worrying about!
That’s Bishops Park, where a few scenes from The Omen were filmed.....the church in there (All Saints), is the one where the weather vain was struck by lightning, fell off the steeple and speared the priest Father Brennan (Patrick Troughton),..............so give it a wide berth is my advice, especially if there’s a thunderstorm in the vicinity!

Think I gave slight misinformation for tubes from Charing Cross and Victoria. You can still get District line west as far as South Kensington (every 5 mins), which takes 5 mins. Then change and take Piccadilly line to Hammersmith which takes 8 mins. so 20 mins overall should be ok. Still a 1.5 mile walk but tube slightly quicker than the route I suggested before. There is a Thames walk path apparently
Does anyone know how golfie is getting to the game tomorrow?
Train. Golfie Jnr says we (me & him) haven't seen us lose when we've gone to a game by train. Also.....last time we won there back in 1986 I went by train (evening game after work)

Trains are s***.
Parking is f*****.
As for walking 20 minutes......
Mo Farah must have written that bit about it only taking 20 minutes...

24 mins according to Google maps.
When nobody else is on the pavement in Putney High Street, walking across the bridge or though Bishops Park ?
