  • Underrated? well I doubt anyone knows it and it weren't a hit - Guilty pleasure? Well nobody cool would admit to liking Reparata, but here goes:-
    Shoes - Reparata
  • Old News by Mitch James (Kiwi artist). Very far away from the kind of music I normally would listen to, but I love this one.

Also Taylor Swift & ZAYN: I don't want to live forever

And a few songs by SIA.
  • Guilty pleasure - anything by Barry Manilow. Think my mum was into him in the 70-80's so heard his music growing up. Watched his concert in proms on BBC red button. Top performer at 76. Despite his obvious professionalism he doesn't come across as taking himself too seriously. Looks like he'd be a great dinner party guest......no there's a thread!
  • Girl's Aloud - Biology is a really clever and original pop song, Xenomania at their peak.

  • I have a little section on my iPod with guilty pleasures that I blast out in the car and sing along to including:
Beds are Burning by Midnight Oil
knocking on Heaven‘s Door by Guns and Roses
    Angels by Robbie Williams
  • Let it go - Disney song from frozen. Got it on my phone from when the girls were obsessed by it, still give it a sneaky listen
  • Victims - Culture Club
The colour by numbers album is a guilty pleasure of mine.

I’ll add Heartache Avenue by The Maisonettes and Sign of the Times by The Belle Stars to the debate.
  • Bump Bump Bump - B2K & P Diddy

    Yes by McAlmont and Butler
    Great tune.
You Do by Mcalmont and Butler would be in my top 10.
  • Jolene by Dolly Parton, love it lyrically and musically.

  • Dont generally like Manic Street Preachers stuff as I dont particularly like his voice, that said 'If You Tolerate This' is the bollox.
  • Nice to see a couple of mentions of Take That. I always think they're different to many other boy bands because Gary Barlow is a very talented singer-songwriter. They write all their stuff themselves instead of just singing other people's work. It's all original music and very good originial music. Barlow is a really talented musician, a proper musician, not just a frontman of a 90's boy band. I've watched many different bands' or solo artists' live performances over the years and Barlow is definitely one of the best live singers out there. Plus he has an amazing voice.

As for the question - I like Pet Shop Boys songs. And Simply Red. But I don’t feel guilty! Something got me started, screw anyone who tells me otherwise.
I discovered PSB and Simply Red around the same time, about 15 years ago. Loved them both. I later became a huge PSB fan. I think they are among the best 80's bands.

I love this song bought it on one of those 20 songs by original artists back in 1975 and until fairly recently didn't realise she was the Reparata who did Captain of Your Ship another favourite from a bit earlier in my childhood. Great to see someone else loves it all together now' Johnny and Louise both on their knees'

agreed, a lot of their stuff just sounds like your average pop-rock songs made by a group of boring blokes. But it's a great song.

Great song, as is Big Area which used to be played down The Albany in Deptford at the end of the night sometimes following a pill frenzied house session.
  • Not necessarily a guilty pleasure, just a cracking song -
