Who does your club need to keep hold of?
"Alex Mowatt is a player at the top of his game. He is the heartbeat of this team on and off the pitch and leads by example."

We were linked with this player earlier in the window.
I wonder, is he the midfielder that we turned down because he wanted an extra £1k pw?

Short sighted if thats the case - Decent player and the chance to torpedo a team below us

Not a rumour per se but Amos and Page in the under 23s starting XI today, Aneke, who scored a hattrick on his comeback last week, isn't in the squad so I presume is on the bench tonight

I hope so -lets hope he hasnt had a setback !!

I honestly think they just want us to survive then we'll see the real action in the summer. What happens in the next nine days won't tell us much about the future IMO.
Yes I think you're right - and I believe I made a comment a couple of weeks ago that the January window is not the one to build a team. But it is the one to fill gaps, and to increase our chances of survival there are 2 or 3 gaps to fill. No marquee signings required, just solid players than can add something to the current squad.

Plug the gaps with a 2 or 3  of high quality loans ? Even if it costs a bit in loan fees ? Short term gain to see us up until the summer - no increase in the perm wage bill ? Then we go again at the end of the season and buildthe squad we need to challenge

Don't believe for a second Mowatt was the player, our staff ain't stupid, 1k a week to nick a relegation rivals key player and cause them a issue for their season.

Hopefully we find out who it is one day but I would like to hope it ain't him

No rumours at all > Fake rumours.
  • Perhaps waiting to bury news of another defeat this evening with some better news tomorrow?

Is that what we have come to?

Probably not but a defeat this evening followed by no signings or contract for Bowyer, Jackson and Marshall and Matt Southall will need to be on top form on Friday.

You'd hope though that one of the other clubs would do that instead...

I’m with you on that. Definitely one to keep an eye on if we stay up and they go down though.

I have always wanted a team to announce a signing by just adding them to the team sheet. Would get a lot of attention despite being simple in approach.

Tonight is one of the times you could get away with it as there are a number of clubs not playing so it would not upset their pre-match media/messaging.

Failing that, an unveiling at half time would be nice.

Of course none of this will happen.

Any chance of an on-field signing tonight? Not had one of those for a while now!

My thought on a few transfers we have been linked to
the player they wouldn't pay 4k a month extra for surely can't have been high up the list of targets. 4k a month is nothing in footballing terms, when you take into consideration the potential cost of getting relegated. We can't have thought to much of him.

Its the same with Taylor, lost Taylor now for £4m, or keep him, he keeps us up and saves us an approx £12m a season loss in League 1

Blackpool are basically pushing for promotion, why would you lose your top scorer on the cheap when it could cost you promotion, its like Bristol City Fans saying the same about us with Taylor and us getting relegated. Yes he was half the price in August, but he has been scoring regularly in League 1, so his premium has gone up, same as Taylor. Would you have put a £5m price tag on Taylor last August? but we all suspect that is the figure or around that number we would ask for him, even with 6 months on his deal.

Again with Maddison, can we really want him that much if we won't pay the extra he is asking for, or are we offering fair Champ terms and he is pushing his luck.

On just paying what they ask, the problem with that is most of our squad are on league 1 wages, if billy big bollocks comes in on double there wage and doesn't pull his weight (as Peterboro have suggested with Maddison at times) is that not going to rock the boat?

I have stopped asking for info as in all honesty its becoming a little obsessive. Do i think we will get who and what we need, unfortunately not, however i do think that the squad and spirit in the team will lift us up and save us from the drop. For me consolidate and the real recruitment drive starts in August.

lastly i think we all need to chill the fcuk out a bit, some of the comments i read from fans make me wonder, why on earth would Matt and ESI want to get involved in football, its an industry where you will never have every fan singing with you, there are always pessimists that just want to piss on your cornflakes. We have had years of neglect, lets embrace these guys, until they show us otherwise.

Only 12 of the 24 (including ourselves) have signed anybody, and 6 of those 12 haven't actually increased their squad size as they've let as many or more leave.

Only 4 of the 12 to sign somebody have actually spent any money (Hull and Swansea have brought players in for undisclosed amounts)
Charlton are 3 out (Kayal, Leko and Gallagher).
    & sinking like a brick.
except we haven't sunk in weeks.

Okay, my mate Dave has heard we're close to signing Mitrovic and his injury is all a ruse so he doesn't play against us tonight. Go nuts.

Oh I see, so Jackson needs to sign his first which will allow Bowyer to sign his, meaning Marshall will then sign his

Or, Marshall will sign first meaning Jackson is happy to sign, which then means the backroom staff have signed up, so Bowyer signs too. All rather straight forward really
