Going down would be catastrophic. Whatever ESI might say, their whole business model, and the story they've sold to businesses in the UAE who might be interested in getting involved, isn't based on us playing Exeter and Accrington next season. Especially if we end up there with several players on Championship wages

Relegation will not be catastrophic but it will be a massive kick in the nads, esi have a 5 year plan. Relegation would put that back to 8-10 years depending on how quickly we would get promoted again. Relegation would mean rebuilding again next year and then again if and when we get promoted.
esi have a lot of rebuilding to do on and off the pitch! If we are in the championship next year, we can push on and aim for 20k crowds compared with 12-13 in league 1.
Middle Eastern sponsorship will be more difficult outside the championship. Esi don’t need to spend big this week but do need to make sure we improve the squad, even with loans, to make sure relegation doesn’t happen.
im pretty sure we will have 3 bodies in this week which means Davison, vennings and Dempsey can learn and develop in the u-23’s.

Doubling the five year plan sounds pretty catastrophic to me.1

We aint going down, calm it.3

I don't know if it'll be catastrophic or not.0

To be fair, I believe I am one of the more optimistic posters on here, and I remain certain that we will be bringing in players this week, 100%.
Just because nothing has happened today doesn’t mean anything for the rest of the week.
However, this ‘judge the owners on February 1st’ is relatively fair. They purposely didn’t buy the remaining assets of the club at the same time, with the agreement/obligation to do so in the summer, all for them to ensure they were in charge for this window. They repeatedly said about strengthening. I believe we will have strengthened come the end of the window, but it is fair to judge after its closed, it is what they came in to do.
Let’s wait and see, but I’m excited for the window to end for two reasons, one so it means we bring the players in, and the other so we can move on and look forward to the rest of the season.28 -
Erm ....... any rumours?

Massive week in our history coming up, relegation would be catastrophic, simple as that.
Looks like you may have already judged them if you are having a dig at those who said 1st February. There are so many aspects of our club that need rebuilding. After a year we will be able to judge how good a start they have made. I said when they took over that if they sign up Bows in the transfer window and that’s are only bit of business, it will be a good one.
Hopefully 31.12.20 the rest of the purchase will have gone through, building at the training ground started, medical team expanded and supported, players with potential will have been signed and not just loaned, gate improved, feeling that we have got our Charlton back felt by the majority.
Relegation would be an unfortunate hiccup, (but not the catastrophe you suggest), in the re-building our club. Just that and no more.
Not that I expect to get relegated. To prove my confidence in that I have bet £20 at 60-1 with Betfair that we will finish in the top half of the league - do you get that tingle of a feel good factor? Probably not yet. But have a good look around our club on Saturday and think about the possibilities. Watch the way our confident manager strolls out, the determination of our players to give everything. The crowd, the noise, the support. We will be alright. Trust Bows. Trust the new owners. COYR!3 -

We've been down before you know!
I'd describe relegation as horrendous, annoying or a pain in the poop-loop. I'll reserve catastophic for the following; folding, being forced to leave the Valley and ground share with Millwall or being sold back to Roland.
So why keep focussing on the worst case scenario, mate? ...... You make Golfie sound cheerful.2 -

Judge them initially on Feb 1st and then judge them again at the start of next season to see if they have bought the freeholds and brought in some decent players over the summer.4 -
Called their clubs on Monday,
Took their agents for drinks on Tuesday,
Agreed initial terms on Wednesday,
Personal terms on Thursday and Friday and Saturday.
We chilled on Sunday
(with our 3 new signings, one will play Saturday obvs).

And I’ll stick with catastrophic, there’s a real buzz around the place which we all love. Relegation happens, it goes, no one wants the league one dog fight new owners or not. The crowds go away again, the buzz goes away, and worst of all, our big day at Wembley tarnished (do you remember Bauer’s last minute goal, yeah shame we went down straight away, so charlton). Negative rant over, hope I have egg on my face come feb 1st and they pull their finger out.8

Sage said:I think we are all expecting there to be interest and offers in for Taylor, we’d be foolish to think otherwise.
At this late stage, and with Bowyer saying he will speak to Taylor this week, I would be genuinely surprised and saddened if he were to leave. Finding an adequate replacement at this late stage would be almost impossible.0 -
ShootersHillGuru said:Confident things will happen. Would be both astonishing and worrying if after ESI busting a gut to take ownership in order to work the transfer window and given our league position and recent injuries. I seriously doubt we are all going to be jumping for joy in Saturday morning but I think Bowyer will get reinforcements.
So even if they get no one else in, they still took the correct action.3 -
Either it's who blinks first in a transfer merry go round or we are still in RDs budget bollox0

Yeah we've been on a dire run - but we know why. No team in the division would not have struggled given the same injury crisis.
And even the last 6 games, we've played most of the teams in the top 7. And picked up half a dozen points.
But now we have key players coming back, the mood in the camp is positive .... and we've every chance of strengthening this week.
We've got the manager we need. And it seems the owners we need also.
Whether you're glass half full or glass half empty, it's the same amount of beer in the glass.

Bowyer has said that he thinks Taylor will stay (didn’t specify whether for the season or in a new contract) but that he thought that about Gallagher and he was wrong there.
Bowyer has said Lyle made a little joke in the drawing room after the last game but didn’t say about what. Linked to that he said that he thought that he (aBowyer) signing a new contract might help but he wasn’t sure and was going to talk to Lyle face to face after the weekend that see what Lyle had to say.
Matt Southall has said we will only let Lyle go this season if we get a huge offer for him.My best guess is that Lyle will stay for the remainder of the season and then it will be up to us to try and match oppo bids in the summer window.2 -

We'd need 30-35 points from 17 games and our form would need to be somewhere between top of the league and third.0 -

We're all anxious, but we all know the majority of January deals take place on the last day or two.
Most clubs and players do not need to make a decision until then.1 -

With Bow signing his new deal, it’s a case of finding out what he’s thinking and whether they can sit down and get something sorted. Bow has always stated Taylor won’t sign until he does. Now it’s done, let’s see if we can get something sorted. If not, he gives his all until the end of the season and we say thank you and good luck in May.2 -

As an aside it'll be interesting if any of our youngsters go out on EFL loans this week as if they don't then you imagine the likes of Bromley will be licking their lips at the prospect of getting some of them on short terms loans2

I genuinely cannot believe, I am reading on social media people saying 'good, don't want Maddison anyway'. Literally walks into our squad and makes us a better team straight away. People want us to be shit because the bloke likes Xbox and has face tats. I don't get it.
Cawley saying that news about Maddison is a real dampener
Really bugs me when people judge a players attitude before he comes here, we have had players and managers come here with a reputation and they've done fine, we have had players with good reputations and they've been pants. Don't get why people are so concerned by how a player acts off the pitch as long as he isn't doing anything illegal3
