    Pearce: 6
    Purrington: 7 - much better than recent games
    Pratley: 7 - Playing every game and keeps going for 90 minutes. Shouldn't underestimate his contribution during this injury crisis

    at the Liberty Stadium, on Sky or a live stream, your marks please:

    Phillips: 6.5 Not much to do

    Matthews: 7 Great recovery pace and good when he was allowed to get forward. A brilliant signing on a free.

    Lockyer: 6.5 Solid if unspectacular

    Pearce: 5 I've never seen a professional outfield player look so uncomfortable with the ball at his feet. Him standing three yards away from Morgan lead to that giveaway. Him switching off led to the chance where they hit the post. Looks mentally and physically tired. Very lucky not to get sent off for one of the most awkward clearances I've seen in quite some time. If Byers were even a foot closer or made any attempt at the ball we'd have played most of the match with 10.

    Purrington: 6.5 Defended well. Got forward well on some ocassions. Because he did his man a couple of times I think they were more memorable than they were numerous.

    Pratley:: 6 Worked hard but just not technically very good and thus can't really impact the game going forward apart from from set pieces. The commentator on ESPN+ had a good reminder that he scored 12 goals in Swansea's promotion campaign to the Premier League. He used to be box to box, but he's now pretty one dimensional. Always works hard, just doesn't have the skill required.

    Morgan: 6 By contrast, he does have quite a bit of skill, and had a couple moments where he looked most likely to pick a pass. In the end, he didn't. Would do better playing alongside more skillful players, and he's going to be quite good, but not quite ready for this level of responsibility at this level.

    Dempsey: 5.5 He looks tidy in terms of technical ability and has the physique required, but just completely annonynous for most of the match. Not ready for this level, and that's not his fault.

    Gallagher: 7.5 Technically our best player. Works his bollox off. Tough as nails.

    Taylor: 6 - Struggled to make an impact. Not fully fit. Desperately needs someone to link up with.

    Davison: 7 - Mostly for effort. He looks like a lower league striker, which he is,at least at the moment. But he never stopped working. Didn't do well with the chances that came to him though. Shouldn't be playing at this level.

    Doughty: 6.5 - Came into an open game and looked a threat. But still struggles in tight situations. Not a center forward. Another who is going to be quite good but isn't ready for this level of responsibility at this level. Again, not his fault.

    Referee: 7

    Vennings: Looks tidy. But small. Very small. Also, bad mustache attempt. All of these things will hopefully change as he ages.
    Sarr: The impact sub we needed 10 minutes earlier. Scared them.

  • Phillips: 7 poor kicking but did everything else right. especially with crosses.
    Matthews: 7 good at both ends of the pitch. crossing could improve but not much to aim at.
    Lockyer: 7 strong
    Pearce: 6.5
    Purrington: 7 similar to Mathews in his performance
    Pratley:: 6.5
    Morgan: 6 should of stayed on even though he wasent at his best. still needed him to deliver a better ball than what we were doing in the last part of the game.
    Dempsey: 5.5
    Gallagher: 6.5 lots of energy. no real support in work with up front.
    Taylor: 5 looked tired.
    Davison: 5.5 he got better when Taylor was off but little service. gave away some cheap fouls.
    Doughty: 6 pace, skill but no end product as of yet.
    Referee: 4 missed an obvious pen. till that point he was ok.
  • Phillips: 7
    Matthews: 8
    Lockyer: 7
    Pearce: 7
    Purrington: 7
    Pratley:: 7
    Morgan: 6
    Dempsey: 6
    Gallagher: 7
    Taylor: 6
    Davison: 6
    Doughty: 7
    Referee: 6
  • Watched on SKY. It really was the epitome of a "game of two halves". I've tried to base my scores across both halves, but if scoring on the 2nd half only they would be higher to be honest.

    Phillips: 7
    Matthews: 8
    Lockyer: 6
    Pearce: 6
    Purrington: 6
    Pratley:: 6.5
    Morgan: 5
    Dempsey: 6.5
    Gallagher: 7
    Taylor: 5
    Davison: 6
    Doughty: 7
    Referee: 6
