Had a great day because I was convinced a strong WBA team would nick a late winner but the excellent Sarr marshalled the defence well late on and with Lockyer improving 2nd half after his shocking attempted back pass, but like Naby he makes a mistake but atones with a goal. Charlton deserved at least a point and got it.
Had a great chat with an enthusiastic fan who talks as much as me and Lyle Taylor on the train from Charlton to London Bridge. Did not realized for 5 minutes it was @JamesSeed and James didn't realize it was soapboxsam the crazy passionate fan who loves Cafc as if it was family.
James you're a top man and like myself have managed to detoxify after being taken to Millwall as a child.
Both James and myself phoned Esther Ranzen's helpline as kids and this cruel behaviour was stopped.2 -
You cannot fault this squad guts or heart, WBA I don't think broke sweat whereas we were dead at the end. Gallagher is Parker with an arsehole at that age, desperately missing a centre forward that the ball atifls to.

Bloke behind said “I can’t see” to which my Robert as quick as a flash said ‘stand up then’.

Said it at Half-Time yet felt it was obvious the way we were being creative with them
Bowyer surely saw something when analysing them that they didnt do well defending them in the first place
Only frustration was the eventual ball into the box was poor as bet that wasnt happening when practicing them in training!!1 -
Really good game thoroughly enjoyed it, as did my 6 year old who finally got to see us score, he kicked every ball and we’re talking about season tickets for next season.12

Anyone know what was being said between Kyle Bartley and the North Lower by the way?
Seemed to be a few words said between him and a few fans when Davison was down receiving treatment just before he was replaced by Hemed0 -

He was laughing with their keeper, and the CE took exception thinking that he must think one of our players being injured was funny.2

A few times they got in a tangle and fell over, usually you see the players just ignoring each other but Kyle helped Josh to his feet each time

Agree about Hemed, there were definite signs of commitment from him which I didn't see in is previous cameo role.
Just watched the highlights on Quest and the missus saw something that both of us missed during the match. This was before the corner for the Davidson goal when the ball was being passed around the baggies fans. The thing was that the ball didn't go into the crowd when the Sawyers put th ball out. After it had gone out it appears that Sawyers picks it up and throws it into the crowd to prevent the corner being taken. That is the equivalent of kicking the ball away and should have been penalised in its own right. Fortunately for the cheats it was only Sarr and Davison who had to meet out the punishment because the ref was inept.

Little negative play in sideways and backwards passing in spells, but overall a performance that was a delight to watch.Davidson... for a young player he was so impressive. They tried to put him out the game with physical tactics. My god he gave back more than he took... well done young man. You have a great future !Pratley..... A captains performance.. both in his play and his leadership, Up there with JJ and there is no bigger compliment.
Green.... Well played.. grew into the game... and is more than a replacement for Leko. He is going to be a key player in next couple of months.Williams and Forster Caskey they raised the bar when they came on, started to think we could win.

If I was one of their fans I'd be furious. They are clearly a good side and can play good football but they didn't. They were dirty niggly and horrible from the start. And I dont get why. They most creative player came off the bench and cause us all sorts of problems (couldn't work out who because i couldn't see the numbers on their stupid kit with thin orange numbers on yellow and green! What cretin thought that was a good idea?!) If they tried to play football they would have beaten us. Instead they came for a battle and played into our hands. It's the perfect game for the likes of Pratley, Lockyer, Deji, Gallagher (and it was good to see the likes of Green, JFC dishing a bit out too). Maybe they got dragged into it more than they wanted by the experience of Pratley winding them up? I dunno.
First half thought we gave a good account of ourselves bar the defensive mistake for the goal. Davison put himself about well and caused them problems. I likes the kinda lop-sided back 5 with Doughty often being our furthest player up the pitch but still at wing back off the ball. Green and Gallagher supported Josh well. The goal playing out from the back is a risk and you always get one or two mistakes leading to a goal each season if you play like that. But could have been avoided, Matthew's dilly-dallied on the ball too long and then gave it to Lockyer with a hell of a lot to do. Lockyer held with it terribly and tried to pass back to Dillon but under pressure simply passes it to the on rushing attacker. We didnt deal with it well from there. Deji should have gone straight to the man as Sarr was recovering behind. But he allows him to take it into the box. I really thought he'd pulled off a miracle after he blocked the first shot but wasnt to be.
We stayed in the game well and great work all round for the goal. Delighted for Josh!
Second half started with a sucker punch. And we weren't in it for a while. Gradually got a grip back on the game but the real change was when Jonny and JFC came on. Jonny and Andre (who was excellent all game) running at them terrified their back line. Bartley (and to a lesser extent Ajayi) gave it to the covered end when it was completely unnecessary for the whole time Davison was down injured. Not long later Bartley loses his man and that's the equaliser. Wonderful!
We saw it out fairly comfortably in the end. Good to see some players back, JFC impressed me and will be useful in the coming weeks. Pratley immense throughout. Real leader in the jacko mould (think Lockyer is too) proper fighter and so fit for his age. Winds them up without ever actually crossing the line himself. Doesn't have too much pace but was still the one most willing to bust a gut and get back to make the tackle as they broke near the end. Growing man love for our Dazza.
Ohh yeah. Ref was an absolute nonce. No clue what he was playing at. They could easily have had 2 reds. Completely lost control in the second half.
A word on the people around me in block M of the covered end upper.
Bloke behind me moaning every time I stood up and even grabbed me by the shoulder and tried to pull me down at one point. Like ffs you're 3/4 of the way back in the covered end everyone is standing up (I wasnt even doing it that much - the instance where he grabbed me it was as Doughty put a ball into the box!) Not sorry for telling you to fuck off. If you wanna sit down all game and aren't interested in standing when we have a chance go sit in the west stand. And before anyone asks no he didnt have mobility issues. He was jumping rows of seats perfectly fine to beat the queue to get out at half time.
And the guy to my left was vocal - which I like but had zero clue about football. Was calling Davison shit from the first minute even though he was clearly putting himself about well. Didnt even stop calling him shit after he scored! Refused to stand or even clap when he was subbed! Shouting out at the defense even when they had the ball and were directly running at us. Shouted hoof it whenever we get the ball. What so you want us to hoof it at Davison so he can battle with 2 CBs twice his size and then you can moan at him too. The guy was a fool.
So glad I wasnt sat in my season ticket seat!15 -

I think you are right. If Naby had got the challenge wrong the ref could also have given him a yellow or red depending how bad and what he'd have given elsewhere on the pitch. The rule change to stop double or triple punishment with auto red card/ penalty and suspension was stopped 6 years ago according to this articlethenewbie said:

Tackle by Sarr was superb but lets not forget Lockyer's one earlier in the season which was just as good.

Sarr's looked a lot faster the way he slid in, had he got that wrong I reckon it would have been a red card as well as a penalty
