  • i don't believe we have money to spend in this window. i also fear that if we are relegated they wont be buying the ground/training ground.

Isn’t the 6 month agreement binding......I would imagine so?
Depends what the penalty is, if one exists at all.

Knowing Duchatalet, I’d say there is one.

Bet its cheaper than paying 50mil for a league 1 club

Maybe the penalty is giving the football club back?

why on earth would he take the football club back when he has managed to offload it AND keep the ground and training ground?

    Who exactly is that penalizing?
  • Rich people spend money, not compete with Bolton for players.  We are skint, we just now have a chairman that shows his boat race and says nice things on camera.

The marquee signing we thought was coming has happened, it was Bowyer’s contract, and even that was made a meal of.
  • No one promised a marquee signing this window.
I'd be happy with one of those cheap tents people throw away after Glastonbury

  • I take it are sustainability  5 year plan includes relegation to league one at the end of this season. I justed wanted a wealthy Russian oligarch to own us and splash the cash, was that to much to hope for.
  • Most of the deals are done near the end of the window - there's plenty of time left. We don't want to pay too much for players.

Not sure if you are saying those things or adding on to @BR7_addick's post...

If we all keep repeating them we might feel more optimistic - hasn't worked so far.....
  • There's money as surely they wouldn't pass the 'fit and proper person test'? Also would the EFL allow a pay later takeover?

My thoughts are another group who want to get to the premier league spending as little as possible. It will go wrong again and Roly will have the last laugh, unfortunately.

Do the EFL actually have any say on anything other than the company the owns the golden share?

I'm MY OPINION we haven't got much money at the moment.   I think the club has a little bit left from Dijksteel's sale that could be used to grease some wheels.

As it stand ESI haven't made any real financial input.   Mr Southall is, in football terms, skint. HE has personal wealth that is beyond my wildest dreams but not enough to fund big losses, on top of the cost of the final purchase.

My best guess is that MS and HE will be working overtime going through thier, obviously well heeled, contact list trying to drum up sponsorship deals and other forms of finance as soon as possible.  2 sell out crowds will look good as they tour the great and good of the UAE.

What makes you think there's money leftover from the Dijksteel sale? If you think Duchatelet left moneybin the till, you must be smoking something powerful.
  • If things do turn out for the better and we do have some money behind us, I hope we remember those clubs that tried to turn us over in this window

And those who took advantage of our poor previous ownership Birmingham in particular for Morrison I won't be happy until we get them back for that.

I rate those clubs, no human rights were violated, its good opportunistic business.

Like when we got even with Palace by nicking their manager. That showed them.
  • Hmmmmm.

Not a single permanent signing and a real haggle over Bowyers contract.

They did resist selling Taylor, but I don't think that was too difficult.

IMO we will only really start seeing some cash if Southall can turn this into a commercial and corporate money generator.

Quite how you do that when we are rattling around in league one is anyone's guess?
  • The summer is always the real time to see how much backing we have now

Jarred Bowen to West Ham for £22m was the most expensive transfer this month, that wouldnt have been the case a few years ago

January is only gonna become more and more of a waste of time

Might as well change the format and make it a window open to loan deals only

Are we in league one.......I don’t think so.
  • Maybe there is a perception that we are mega-rich which is why some options were trying for better deals which resulted in no deal. I have said before not to brag about being rich as it just raises expectatiions abount what we can afford or pay

We aren’t owned by the sheikh, we’re owned by the guy that works for the sheikh. Fabulously successful and wealthy in his own right, but it’s not unlimited Man City type money.

At this moment in time you are right.......but I’m convinced that if we get in the position where we are in with a good shout for promotion to The Prem bigger funds will be made available, same thing applies as and when we ‘eventually’ get there.
Huge sums are there to be had when Matt Southall, Bow and his back room team can show they can steer us there......which I for one believe they can.

What, we were relegated whilst I was asleep ?
You may as well say we are in The Premier League.
    The height of silliness.
  •  There is no evidence yet what funds these guys have or what they are prepared to spend, only that they have spent very little so far.
That may change but so far we are trying to move forward slowly on very limited investment.

My guess is that the business plan is to take small steps to make the club more attractive and make a decent return on a "relative" small outlay by selling the club on at some point in the future. Certainly not mega rich free spenders heading for the big time.
  • It appears we don't have a whole load of money. Which, if we did have a whole load of money, is not an unhelpful appearance. We'll see, I guess.
