Surprised by the lack of times Only Fools and Horses is listed.
Very funny, but personally I think it went on a bit too long and had too many spin offs.

Should have been killed off at the point Damien was born, if not a bit before.
  • When they auctioned the watch and became millionaires should have been the end.

Also very funny in it’s time. Apart from the classic set pieces and occasional bits of dialogue it doesn’t cut it for me. A bit like Morecombe and Wise. At the time I ached with laughter watching their shows but now meh.
  • Farty Towels
    OFAH
    Blackadder
    The Office
    Goodnight Sweetheart
  • Citizen Smith

    (1977 -1980)

Robert Lindsay was 'Wolfie' Smith, self-proclaimed leader of the revolutionary 'Tooting Popular Front'.

This amusing series was written by John Sullivan, who went on to write Only Fools and Horses.

  • Bottom
    Father Ted
    I'm Alan Partridge
    The Office
    The Inbetweeners

Only Fools and Horses was great, but In my opinion it should have finished in the early 90s. Rodney's character changed at some point, I'm not sure when it happened, but the moment he stopped being a dimwit the joke was over.
  • Seinfeld
    One Foot In The Grave
    The Office (US)
    League Of Gentlemen
    Phoenix Nights

Rodney became intelligent and too self sufficient as soon as he met Cassandra (Yuppy Love). I feel that Raquel (Rachel) also spoiled Dels character somewhat.  He offered her somewhere to live (The Jolly Boys Outing) and suddenly became all controlling. This goes completely against Dels character.  Still my favourite show though.
  • Only Fools & Horses
    One Foot in the Grave
    Fawlty Towers
Whatver Happened To The Likely Lads
    Phoenix Nights
  • if you ask me a dozen times I probably wouldn’t give you the same 5 any one time, but I would say OFAH and Fawlty Towers would be in all 12 answers and Modern Family would appear more often than not.

  • Some Mothers Do Av Em
    Steptoe and Son
    Bless This House
    George and Mildred
    Robin's Nest
  • Fawlty Towers is perfection.
Apart from that any four from 30 or so depending on what springs to mind.
  • FFS The Office? Not a single vote for Monty Python or Men Behaving Badly or The Young Ones, Hancock, The Worker. Liked Derry Girls, Bilko, Fonz. Personally Steptoe, Young Offenders, Inbetweeners are up there but hard to narrow down to five. Comedy you consistently laughed at or ones that occasionally actually split your sides?
  • Couldn't  pick just 5 straight so picked from categories. In no order

    5 from here
    Peep show
    Only fools
    Men behaving badly
    It crowd
    Car share

    5 USA
    Fraiser
    Curb
    Seinfeld
    Two and a half men
    Parks and rec

    5 animated
    Simpsons
    South park
    Family guy
    King of the hill
    Rick and morty

Monty Python a sketch show not a sitcom
  • To be honest I tried to pick the 5 I enjoyed the most at the time of their original broadcast.
As some of them are 50+ years old I doubt I'd like them so much if I was watching them now with an older mans eyes.
  • Arrested Development
    Community
    Futurama
    Silicon Valley
    Peep Show (s1-4)
  • They've all been mentioned already but off the top of my head

    1. Flight of the Conchords
    2. Phoenix Nights
    3. The Office (US)
    4. Peep Show
    5. The Royle Family
  • My list would change on a daily basis, probably.

Today's list in no particular order:

    Steptoe and Son
    Fawlty Towers
    Blackadder
    Phoenix Nights
    Ever Decreasing Circles

    Tomorrow's list could be

    Dads Army
    The Thin Blue Line
It Aint Half Hot Mum (I am currently watching the box set)
    On The Buses
    OFAH

  • Friends
    Only fools and horses
    The big bang theory
    Always sunny in Philadelphia
    Fawlty Towers

    This Country
    Detectorists
    Dad's Army
    Porridge
    Blackadder
This Country is underrated,  one the funniest things thatvhas ever been on telly.

I think it's criminally underrated - the writing is superb and the characters are all well developed. It's a great observation of rural life for the young in modern Britain. Hard to choose a favourite character.
The Vicar is a fantastic character, however the actress who plays Kerry is just boss.

I also think the Raquel actress was poorly cast.

Never saw Monty Python as a sitcom. It was more a sketch show wasn’t it?
Lots of votes for the Young Ones and MBB, I think.

Always Sunny is a great shout.

    Parks and Recreation
    Curb Your Enthusiasm
    Camping
    Extras
    Flight of the Concords
Never heard of any of ‘em?
The three I've heard of are absolute crackers, so on that basis I'll be checking out Parks and Recreation and Camping.
Parks and Rec is superb, but be warned - season 1 isn’t all that.
It only starts getting really good when Adam Scott and Rob Lowe turn up near the end of season 2. It then becomes terrific.

  • Parks and Rec is superb, but be warned - season 1 isn’t all that.
Glad you said that, watched the first few and it felt like an Office retread. Will try again.
  • Only Fools and Horses
    Dad's Army
    Yes Minister/Prime Minister
    Red Dwarf (S2 to S6)
    Porridge
Not quite in my top 5, but as I'm not sure it's been mentioned, Drop the Dead Donkey was really good too

The actors playing Kurtan and Kerry are brother and sister in real life and also wrote it which perhaps explains why the dialogue is so good and the acting so natural. The vicar I agree is a great character.
  • Only Fools and Horses
    Rising Damp
    This Country
    Only when I laugh
    Fawty Towers

    Any order - all great!
