[cite]Posted By: Salad[/cite]Suzi - have you heard Richard Hawley?

I've been listening to 'Coles Corner' recently and it is amazing - he has a deep, mellifluous voice .... Roy Orbison meets Ian McCulloch meets Frank Sinatra meets Morrissey meets Elvis

When they collected their Mercury Prize, one of the Arctic Monkeys said "someone call the police, Richard Hawley has been robbed"

heard of him, haven't heard his stuff.
i'm currently getting copies of: Concretes, chem bros, cribs, sfa, justice, white stripes, pigeon detectives, sunshine underground and the little ones albums.
and getting a mix tape of songs from the following: rev & makers, jack pen, kate nash, rumblestrips, enemy, adele, ting tings.
i bought the bees, css, the holloways and get cape wear cape fly. but still loving candi payne at the mo!! have you heard her????
will ask if he can put some richard hawley on it!

currently i'm in rock mode, as going to see metallica on sunday :-)

    moved this here
  • I hate Metallica with a passion. Grrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going Kaisers in December at Earls Court and V Festival next month.
  • Found out about 2 new bands I'd never heard of last night, both pretty awesome although rather heavy, so not sure how many on here they would appeal too.

    The Devil Wears Prada
    &

    Chevelle
  • Haven't been in the arena to see a gig yet, Prince next month will be my first visit.

Been listening to the new Interpol album, and I'm a tad disappointed in it, especially compared to the Editors album, which I think is a bit better, and I find myself a bit shocked by that
  • LCD Soundsystem are playing Brixton Academy in October - great band.
  • stu> did you hear about change of support bands?

their voices are similar and quite grating aren't they? i liked what i've heard of both bands, editors really impressed me at glastonbury surprisingly, only saw them as i couldn't find my friend and wandered over there. don't think i could listen to a whole album of either bands.

Hmm, I believe so, Mastodom are now playing right? Instead of B4MV?

I find the Mid Atlantic voice of the guy from Interpol more annoying then the Ian Curtis nasal twang of Tom from Editors, plus the Editors album has a bit more width to it.

Downloading the Chemical Brothers and Pigeon Decectives as well at the moment

Pigeon Detectives are quality. I've heard they are supporting Kaisers in December, along with We are Scientists.

  • Oh, suzie, if I was wrong and HIM have pulled out, please don't tell me as they will ruin my day!

  • Happy days if Pigeon Detetives are supporting Kaisers at Earls Court.

Meant to see them at Glastonbury but the John Peel Tent was a swamp by that stage.

Ive got tickets to V on the Sunday but at, err, Stafford :)

My Northern mate is hopefully selling them for me and I need to tout up some for the Chelmsford one.

Got a ticket for The Verve yesterday, woo hoo, woo hoo.
  • Do tell! I can't think of another band beginning with m that would play support.

    Madonna?

    machine head!

i had motor head and mega death in my head, but machine head are takign over from bullet for my valentine! i don't think i'll be getting there too early! HIM are playing just before metallica still.

    metallica are on at 7.35.

so dude, if it is a tent, how can it get wet inside?? Never been to glasto or a festival really and always wondered!
  • sorry suzie just seen this.

Yes i liked it but as i said in the other thread we got moved down nearer but i liked the whole set up apart from the very squeaky doors in the ladies and no loo roll - very shabby.

We went into the Slug which was packed but got a seat and served easily but they werent doing food. one of our group was hungry so went out and walked around - no fast food outlets in that part that she saw and the wait times in most restaurants was anhour and a half for a table. am sure this will change when they all open... gaucho grill opening soon.

i want to go down one night or at the weekend when no concert on so can have a proper good look around but am very impressed with what has landed on my doorstep.

You're right - there's nothing listed yet that i want to see but will keep checking - especially the Indigo.
  • yeah, reckon the indigo will be quality.

is it true about the £20 parking thing?

You sound like a bit of a headbanger (in the musical sense) Suze, unusual for one of such tender years!

  • MCS,

It was an open tent but they put it at the bottom of a hill so it became a swamp by Saturday.

The dance tents were further up the hill on flat ground so they were ok.

Wow, if this is true than it's totally amazing, I really like Machine Head and B4MV are kinda trash.

I'm going to get there for about 2, gotta find a tout to swap tickets with, the idea of having to spend the day in the seating saddens me quite a lot.
  • gawd no. metal isn't my thing at all!

when i was growing up, my brother and his mates all owned guitars and used to (jam!?) play: nirvana, guns and roses and metallica songs etc. i used to sit in his room when they were all practising singing along so i know all the words etc to those bands.

turns out les_says and his mates used to do the same, so when the metallica tickets went on sale, everyone decided to all go together, so i want to go too as it'll be a laugh. can't say i'm fussed about the support or anything, never heard of any of em!
  • Depends on what's on at the O2, the Cinema has a seperate car park for example, but I think it's £20 for parking if your going to an event, but they had to charge that, as their planning application was all about getting people there on the Tube, Bus and River.
  • [cite]Posted By: suzisausage[/cite] can't say i'm fussed about the support or anything, never heard of any of em!

    They are all 100% awesome.
  • Bit of a metal head myself but not fussed on metallica's latest stuff,Mastodon however are top drawer.Haven't been to see a bad for ages, last one was ISIS and CULT OF LUNA.
  • i think i would truly be scared at a Metallica concert

I'm far more interested in the support, especially knowing Machine Head are playing now, Mastodon are amazing and HIM are capable of putting on a damned decent show.
  • [cite]Posted By: WSS[/cite]i think i would truly be scared at a Metallica concert

Plenty of fit birds mate, you'd be fine.
  • i saw metallica at leeds festival a couple of years ago, it was great. this one bloke when they came on, stood up, did a massive air guitar solo then ran off with his imaginary guitar in a circle through loads of people at a great speed, then ended up smacking into one girl knocking her over, and himself after a couple of seconds, got up, did another air guitar solo and ran off again. sooooo funny.

dont like their new stuff, but love black album, and can't wait for "nothing else matters"
