Saw him on a triple bill with Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis. As a guitarist, I went to see Chuck but Little Richard blew me away - he lit the place up! What a showman. No Little Richard, no Beatles. I would also say, no Little Richard, no Prince and possibly no James Brown. A true musical innovator.
When I first heard him on TV it must have been around 1958/60, Tutti Fruitty blasting out. As others have said, it was like a jolt of electricity going through me.
Every time I hear Tutti Frutti it gets me all over again, just a complete blast of unbridled rock’n’roll. The man just went for it. RIP Little Richard.
