Root's inadequacy brings me no pleasure. Highlighting it is unpopular in quarters of this forum. Memories are vague and unreliable. Deafening is the silence when it inevitably reappears.
Any of the rose tinted brigade care to put up a defense for that abrogation by the captain?
Your boring.
My boring... what?
You go on all the time about how you hate Joe Root, I respect your opinion but you never say who you would have as captain, would you pick Joe Root for his batting?, I cant remember seeing you praise England when they do well.
My guess is ST hears rooooooooot when he comes on to bat and thinks everyone’s booing joe root. He now can’t understand why people think he’s our only genuinely world class batsman.

Please have a day off! Look at roots stats, 10th highest run scorer, averages 48. Not bad stats. I bet he has reached a lot higher in his profession than you have/did in yours.
Wel gor blimey, who'd a thunk it? A captain with some decent bowlers under cloudy skies, with, crucially some actual brain power, wins the toss and inserts the opposition to use the prevailing conditions to best advantage. It'll never catch on...
You're right. With the heavy, overhead conditions, the ball moving about all day and a high-quality seam attack at his disposal, bowling was the only sensible option.
That seam attack exploited the conditions brilliantly by taking a wicket.
As a listener to TMS pointed out, Stokes isn't going much faster than Sibley anyway!
One of the many great things about his knock at headingly last year was watching him move through the gears from patient playing for a draw and taking no risks to full on destructive batting. Genuinely think stokes is up there with one of the best batsmen we’ve ever had.

Test cricket is all about mental strength and to come through what the last 18/ 2 years months have been for him and to be performing at the level he is. Is astonishing
That's a really valid spot about him adjusting his batting to suit the stage of the game. Always seems to be the opposition who manage to do that against us!

Imo he’s the batting all rounder version of flintoff, who was our best bowler but could stand up and play a vital innings, stokes is our best batsman at the moment and can also bowl a vital spell when needs be.
loved his answer to Hussain about what his specialist subject would be on mastermind “the number of drinks bought for me by nasser Hussain over the years”

Reluctantly bring Chase back due to bad light, and he immediately creates problems
