He was absolute dog shit, but a good name. What we are lacking is a few more double barrelled names.

Exactly. Most of these lads won't make it as footballers but only one had the audacity, the temerity, the brilliance, to be named Willberforce

Aaron Henry i think is too young, he is 17 on the 31st August, this player has a big future.
    Hopefully with us.

Be that as it may, I've had my fingers crossed all year that he'd get a senior appearance and pop up with a goal. Imagine being scored upon by a bloke called Wilberforce

Sad to see younger players moving on.

    Good luck to them.

The other side of that " loyalty" coin we hear so much about when a player moves to a higher ranked or higher playing club.

I hear Man City quite fancy Matt Smith and want him to play in their last few games. David Silva’s next replacement?
I’ve heard he has refused to play for City as Real Madrid are signing him and don’t want his watching a blank TV screen at 5am in the morning.

I have no reason to doubt what you hear but I'd be amazed if that was true.

He came on in the Blackburn game that I saw and he looked absolutely lost. (Mind you, a lot of our team did that day!) Physically, he was quite slight and would get knocked off the ball in the Premier League easily.

He must be miles away from a spot in the City first team apart from maybe a brief subs appearance.

Whooooosh i'm afraid mate. In fairness Smith hasn't played much but when I've seen him he's looked totally out of his depth. They only thing i recall is him coming on against Forest and getting booked for time wasting. My QPR mate thinks the same, but it begs the question why is he at Man City? They must see something in him.

Quite a clear out from the Under 23s. Not surprised having watched several games.

Have talked to Nathan Harness' dad several times. Think Nathan shows some class.

Charlton have left an U23 off that list - Hady Ghandour has signed a (I think) 1 year contract (I know Hady’s father)

Interesting that in January we signed 2 loan players (Smith and Green) who both had unsuccessful Championship loan spells in the first half of the season...

Has David Davis been released by Brum or is he going to be playing for them against us in a couple of weeks and suddenly look a good player.

If he does play let's all just be happy we get to see that undoubted ability one more time this season.

Think the list is pretty fair. I thought Keefe showed some promise, but like the club I think Mingi and Vega are better centre halves - in that order.

I commented on this on another thread recently, but delighted that we have retained Wassim, we are crying out for a strong and quick forward!

Junior's contract extension is possibly a surprise. Bags of skill and potential, but lightweight and goes missing for me at times.

His registration would have been with us for the rest of the season so can't play for Brum until the 20/21 season. Bit like Solly/Taylor, they are no longer Charlton players because their contracts have expired but they cannot register with another club to play this season.

Agree with that, also thought that Lucas Ness looks very promising at centre half, pleased & a bit surprised that Junior's contract has been extended as he comes from a very difficult background & a career in football is a good opportunity for him.
Nathan Harness is a very good goalkeeper & saved about 4 penalties for the under 23's last season.

Obviously you’ve got a lot of knowledge on the youth teams, but I don’t think it’s particularly nice to say that about a young player who has just been released.

I think we only signed Matt Smith as part of Southall’s publicity stunt, just extra bodies through the door to make it seem like he made good use of his ‘supa dupa phone’. Don’t think Bowyer ever fancied him.

Matt Smith was surely cover for Sam Field, just returning from injury at the time and with a setback in training?
And very soon after, Field hurt the same knee again and returned to West Brom, everyone assuming he was out for the season.

Remember, Matt Smith was the 6th loan signing on the books - so as a last minute insurance policy, was probably all that was available cheaply with decent pedigree.

With only 3 weeks of the season left and carrying a knock, it was doubtful if he would ever get up to game fitness in time.
And with his loan deal expiring on 30th June, the club surely weren't going to pay for a month extra to have him around?

Funny how people were saying he was the second coming of Colin Bell and Pep really rated him when we signed him. People do really spout a load of twoddle when it supports thier over all impression of the current situation.   Funny the were mainly the same people saying judge them in August and accusing everyone who didn't agree of bed wetting.

Dempsey, like young Davison, showed some good moments under difficult circumstances. If he kicks on he could be useful. He certainly showed greater robustness and determination than I ever saw from Maloney, although in fairness I didn't see much of Maloney, if, as suggested above, it was a choice between the two of them.
