Terrible own goal by the EFL. This will be talked about for years. Don't blame Wednesday for the result. 12 points is significant, however it is only a punishment if it affects a season, i.e promotion or relegation. This affects nothing yet. A protest coming from CAFC should follow this decision but i doubt it. Sadly our owners (whoever they are) don't give a fuck about football.
I wonder if it was even discussed at the meeting with CAFC? Makes life easier for the 'non-owners' as less funds to prove they have in L1. They are failing miserably at the moment. EFL here we come.
Must have good grounds for some sort of action (providing we have competent legal representation, HA), not like the hearing started after they were charged and has dragged on, they were charged in November and had to bring the hearing forward to the end of June, unforgivable.
One thing about all of this is if we still had RD as an owner he'd be all over this like a rash, he bought us with the FFP rules in mind and was disappointed when they didn't impose it properly
This.
They overspent (and then covered it up by misappropriating monies from one year into the next) by bringing in better players & paying them more......one of which (Fletcher) scored against us * cost us the game.
How the fuck is that fair ? If I was an owner now in say League 1, I'd spend massively, get promoted & when the shit hits the fan in a couple of years then so what. In that time you've had more tv rights money, player better teams in better stadiums & increased attendances at home games bringing in more money. Might have even got promoted to the The Premier League. And all you get is a 12 point deduction in a season in which you can then plan for.
I wish I could say I was shocked by this, but sadly the state of the governance in English professional football at the moment is breaking new ground in levels of incompetence. Blatter and Platini would struggle to beat the levels of ineptitude presided over by Mr Parry.
While taking on board that allegedly it was an independent panel that reached this verdict, that at best would surely only be an acknowledgment by the EFL that they are too inept to carry out their own governance themselves. Has there ever been a president for a points deduction that would relegate a team being applied in the following season? If not how can an independent panel possibly hand this down as a sanction, especially when it results in the relegation of another club?
If I was being very cynical, I might observe that the club that stands to lose most from this unprecedented decision, namely Charlton Athletic have new owners going through the checks from the EFL to get their take over approved. Despite all of our concerns and misgivings about this, they might justifiably feel cautious about taking on the EFL in this matter while being at their whim for approval.
The game in this country right now is so corrupt and this urgently needs reviewing by parliamentary committee. If they can question team sky about what was in a Jiffy bag that was sent to Bradley Wiggins, then they damn well should be holding to account the people responsible for the professional game in this country.
I think a legal challenge would get into what happened for all these months and the EFL will want to avoid that. They can't relegate Wednesday now, but it would put a lot of pressure on them to do something about us and Wigan.
If I was a Wednesday FAN Id probably rather the deduction and play of level playing field next season, their best chance of being in the Championship following season IMO
Guys, football is run by gin swigging old geezers on the take and having an easy life. Sheff Wed are part of that institution. There was never a chance the EFL would have relegated Wednesday, never.
So cheating has been endorsed by the EFL. Not surprised to be honest maybe they should apply a transfer embargo over 2 or 3 windows on them so they can’t spend their I’ll gotten gains. Maybe that would deter others.

Macros car park here we come
Not convinced with the spending from the former, its a bit like Barnsley this season (Yeah I know they survived) bringing in a lot of unknowns
Someone tell him thats the activity wall 🤣🤣
Or they might struggle to put together a squad decent enough to catch those clubs.

Of course it's an absolute scandal but can't see club in its current state getting anywhere with EFL
How weak and spineless does that read?! Sounds like just going through the motions with no actual intent to do anything.
Wouldn't be surprised if the EFLs timely visit to us didn't have some discussion about it. The whole thing stinks.
