re Rival Sons @hoof_it_up_to_benty .. we are in total agreement .. I saw them in Cambridge a couple of years back .. tremendous performance from all four of them and their 'touring' keyboard player

Seen Rival Sons several times including the Cambridge gig you went to. They are an amazing band but have never really hit the big time - at least it means I can see them in smallish venues.

they are too good for the 'big time' i m o .. they are so versatile and unique in many ways that they are hard to categorize
That version is absolutely truly bloody awful. There is absolutely no emotion in it.
This is right up there in the "How to ruin a truly classic song by covering it with a (usually female) insipid vocal that adds absolutely nothing to the song" stakes. The fact it's such a great song is the only reason for anyone to listen to it, so even Susan Fucking Boil can't completely ruin it. Although she gives it a bloody good go.

Not overly keen on this version ( I missed the girl talking :-) think she was someone famous but can't remember now) but a fantastic reminder of the Orb. Can't believe it's 30 years old.
Not So much bizarre and not sure if the link will embed but I really like Quartz version Of Carole Kings It’s too late, especially with Dina Carroll’s vocals.

As you can tell, I'm on the fence with this one.
Like Mariah Carey's version of "Without You". A tragic song about loss and heartbreak, and she sings it with a smile on her face. Talentless bimbo.

They do lots of covers, some work some don’t. This one, I think, really does.

Actually, on second thoughts, I don't think I would .....

This definitely fits into the "bizarre" category because apparently, so I'm told, there's a guitar in there somewhere!
