  • That half shows how important having Pratley/Watson holding is to our team. Midfield a bit powder puff. Levitt played some nice balls but outmuscled a couple of times by the excellent Camara. Madison     trying a bit too hard for the Worldy strike. Need to step it up as they shaded that first half.

Charlie Barker the man of first 45 for me. Block after block in the box, first one of which saved a goal

We've gotten into good positions but the final ball hasn't been there yet
Perhaps we should bring Pratley on to add some steel and experience to the midfield - can’t create chances if you can’t win the ball to begin with 😉

I'd like to see Pratley and Washington come on and us play 2 up front and have Pratley sit deep as the ball winner, the 5 man midfield right now is all too wishy washy and Aneke is isolated at times
Just let them rest surely? This isn't a game we need to win
Washington will probably come on for Aneke but cant see Pratley being needed

Plymouth a lot more fluid than us which is to be expected when they’re playing their first team and we made eight changes.

The kind of match where bringing on Pratley/Watson to break up their passages of play would be ideal. As it is we’ll have to keep going as it is and hope they don’t take their chances.

Barker the standout performer in that half.

Getting turned over in midfield. Levitt quite good on the ball but struggling badly off it...been brushed aside a few times. He's got to be careful now too because of the yellow. I think I'd go Pratley for him now, rather than risk a non-challenge or a red card.

Aneke looks to be fading after a bright start. Let's hope HT rest will perk him up for another go.

We've had some promising moments and some good bits of technical play but Plymouth could easily be winning by now.

Pratley is the fittest bastard in our squad, doesn't need a rest, plus he gets one next weekend anyway, unless he gets called up for England! Washington is on a high and I'd chuck him on to help build his understanding with Chuks
  • Enjoyed that half. Some good football. Plymouth look very decent.

Good to see young Barker still looking every bit as good as he did in the early games. He's some prospect.

Lord knows what we are going to do when Aneke tires and has to come off. Plymouth have 3 big centre halfs playing and poor old Washington, who is our only forward on the bench, is going to struggle to win anything played up to him.

    Shouldnt we?

Trouble is I'll feel mixed emotions for Maynard-Brewer if we dont keep a clean sheet

    Hopefully we'll lose on penalties

    Dire?
Barker, Inniss & Morgan have looked good so far.

First 15 we did look very comfortable.

I'd say we've been casual since.

Levitt in the last 5 looked to be getting into it a bit.

    Matthews has been fine,

Purrington constantly out of position and being targeted. Barker has had him covered though.

Maddison looks exciting, but not sharp.

    Aneke looks frustrated.

    Williams looks like Williams.

JFC has been average at best.

    AMB has been comfortable enough.

  • We look like a side who've made 8 changes and are using this game to give rusty players match time

We miss that defensive shield that Watson or Pratley give us, as that's not Levitt's game, and look very vulnerable down our left. Purrington has really struggled, too many times he's dived in

Attacking wise, I'm not sure it's entirely working either, as Maddison and Aneke aren't really combining in the way Bogle, Smyth and Washington have been doing

    Impressed with Barker though

Be good if we could keep the match thread's as positive as we managed last season.

He wouldn’t pull off at HT again...surely. But I agree, he’s struggling. Aneke is isolated. Needs Washington on for Morgan.

Barker been very good, Purrington poor which isn't helping him. Levitt is decent on the ball but doesn't offer much and certainly shouldn't be playing DM. Williams not particularly good, Maddison very greedy.

Reasonable half that. Maddison is looking very rusty, and Plymouth very dangerous on the counter.

Not really sure about the formation, I never like seeing Williams out on the left. Some of the balls Levitt has played through the lines has been great, would rather they were through to someone like a Williams in a central position thoughm

That's the problem I see with Maddison and Doughty, I really think we suffer in terms of balance when either play.

I honestly think we need 2 up top and 4 in midfield.

Don’t often comment on opposition players but Camara looks some player. Only 23 and played at Dulwich Hamlet. Recently rejected a contract at Crawley to make the move up. Something very Joe Aribo about him. Get him on the shopping list Gallen!

It’s bound to be patchy because it’s a patchy side.

link up play has been frustrating. very slow to find players. not helped by them having an extra man in midfield as our defence struggle to move it forward. each player has had good moments to their game and then not so good moments. apart from the centre halves and goalie who have been solid.

need a bit more urgency which i think Bowyer, as he looked a bit exasperated on the touch line, will be asking them for in this second half.

Lapslie scores for Mansfield away to Sunderland.

Good to see our hex over them.

Levitt has been excellent in possession. He needs to work on his defending but he's making us tick

  • Shame this won’t go to a replay. Can’t wait to spend another tenner and watch another 90mins of this.

Nice link-up play from Hardie feeds Edwards down the right. He plays a one-two with Jephs, and pings it with his left foot, but there's not enough on it. #pafc 0-0

Bah, Matthews tries to pass into the area when he should've gone wide to Maddison. Plymouth throw by their corner flag.
