Bowyer could take anyone of them off. Maatsen and Maddison have been woeful
Or we could not take off the two players most likely to create something from nothing

A man in a red shirt might try to get into space a bit more often.

Bogle and Maddison tonight's scapegoats, but neither cost us the goals.
    Someone gets it at least.

Don't know what to say really
Looks a bit like the players thought all they had to do tonight was turn up for the win. No good enough. Lets hope its a one off.

I both love and hate supporting Charlton in equal measure

Jeez, how appalling was that. All this faffing about at the back had to fall over some time, and it did...TWICE!  If you want to get your stats up then play sensible passes.  100% doesn't matter if it's back and forth across the back line. Being more direct to towards Chuks is working; we can win the ball back quite easily.  Take a chance, get it forward quicker.  We can still win this! COYA!

I'm very, very pro Maddison and think on his day he is probably a top 5 player in this league, but he has been diabolical tonight
  • By far our worst half of the season. Maddison is a waste of space on this form. I would bring Albie on at half time.

Maddison has improved as the game has continued - Players in red shirts need to anticipate his crosses more often, ball is being crossed in front of them but there hasnt been enough movement towards the ball

I'd bring on Morgan, yes, but for Gilbey, who has been completely AWOL

2-0 is a dangerous score line!
When you are Charlton and losing. When was the last time we won a game from 2-0 down? Anyone know?
Cardiff at home about 7 years ago probably.

I couldn’t have imagined a worse performance if I tried

Feels like Gilbey is being started too soon after a long lay off

Half time marks if they were a thing

    Amos 6
    Matthews 5
    Gunter 3
    Pratley 3.5
    Maatsen 4
    Watson 6
    Shinnie 5
    Gilbey 5.5
    Maddison 4.5
    Bogle 5
    Smyth 6
    Aneke 6
  • Swap out Gunter for Pearce please.

I know this is harsh as they are playing out of position but I really hope I never have to watch Gunter and Pratley as a CB partnership again.

    both have been dogshit

Certainly gives the second half against Doncaster a good run for its money
  • Geez, that was an appalling first half. We are so lucky to be only one goal down.

I said after the Gillingham game, it looks good passing it out from the back but that when it goes wrong it won't be so clever. Well that's so apparent tonight. Time to definitely try a different tactic tonight.

I know Smyth has scored but it is a waste of time playing him in the front 2 - the guy is just too small and just gets out muscled every time. Stick him wide in midfield which is where his best position is.

Hope Bowyer is doing his nut in the dressing room. Will need a huge improvement to get anything out of this game tonight.

Bowyer got it badly wrong with the 442, Gilbey looked totally lost. Has to play the diamond with that midfield 4. Gunter having a shocker too

  • Garbage performance

Yes the goals were from awful mistakes by Gunter and Amos, but the tactics aren't working as the CBs have nobody in midfield to pass to.

I'd argue that he should stop looking for the wonder ball each time he gets it. Just because a cross looks like it goes in the right area does not mean it was the right ball to play at the time.

Sure it will begin to click for him soon.

He's delivered a couple of great balls into the box and the lack of movement was shocking. When he does eventually get the ball hes surrounded.

As for the Maatsen being woeful comment (not you). He is out there on his own, whats he expected to do?
  • If we can take it up a few levels to complete and utter shit we may stand a chance

Thought he had a couple of nice touches / nearly moments with through balls myself.

Not sure Albie is answer in a match like this. He’ll get bullied off the ball even more so than the blokes that are already out there!

Possession is meaningless unless it's in a dangerous area. Under KR we specialised in sideways passing and it sucked.

With the players we've got we need to go direct.
