  • For the first time in 6 years of marking players on CL and also with comments I went back to the players marks and altered Darren Pratley's by + .5 because despite some poor decision making which nearly lead to a goal on two occasions when he tried to Sheppard the ball out which the forward got to first and only Gunter saved him and also late on when he missed a tackle on the edge of Cafc box. BUT the captain is playing out of position and he was hitting the long balls to Aneke which very nearly led to a goal by Williams after a great head on from Chuks.

But I needed to see the highlights to realize it was DP deep cross that Bogle got on the end of and so having a rethink gave him a 6.

The down side to watching Valley pass and not being at a game is you just can't see the work rate of so many players out of screen.

When I have been at games and other said they have watched on TV or another outlet I realized they missed so much when they gave marks.

We must get Famewo back soon and hopefully Inniss  because despite the valliant efforts of Pratley and Gunter they are not CB.
  • Albie comes over very well in his interview, and has his feet on the ground
regarding where he is at, must be great for him to have two great "teachers"
at the club as Bow and Jacko, can see lots more coming after his first yesterday.
  • Morgan's got one of the best shots, if not the best, at the club, he just needs to fully learn his trade and who better than Jackson and Bowyer to teach him. If he finds consistency he'll go a long way, don't forget he was previously released a few years back.

Has he signed a new contract yet? Can’t remember if that got sorted.

Not me. People also said he couldn't win headers!

I would for the first time in supporting Charlton since the Eddie Firmani team of the 68/69 season as a boy really love it, No really love it( think Kevin Keegan) if instead of selling young talent like 50 odd players in my Cafc supporting decades from Billy Bonds to Joe Aribo, we could take the likes of Doughty and Morgan on the journey back to the Championship and who knows beyond and only sell them if we get an offer which is way above their value.

If Thomas Sandgaard is serious about his dream for Cafc we have to stop selling young players unless it is advantageous to do so.

I believe that is paramount that we get back ASAP to the Championship so our best young players can see a pathway to a higher wage (while playing for Cafc) and a successful career which could fulfill not only their football dreams but the Charlton fans as well.

Ps. My dad took me down the old Den as a young boy before 68/69 to see his old mates from Bermondsey and which resulted in years of trauma where I felt no one liked me but I did care !

Taylor quite rightly was the main man in the previous two seasons but don't think too many on here didn't rate him.
I was the first to break cover when he first signed and said he should be a number 9 with his physique despite Bowyer saying he was a 10. Strange how Chuks went from hardly missing a game before he signed to being wrapped in cotton wool and like Williams being sponsored by Swarovski.

The amount of games Aneke plays this season will have a big say in Cafc either finishing in the top 2 or top 6.
Any other position would be a massive set back.

Chuks involved in pretty much every single of our highlight moments on this.
I can see why Albie is the popular choice for MoTM but for me it was Chuks by a nose. I have been critical of our striking options but I thought he played a solid centre-forward role today and the best front-man display so far this season. He competed for everything thrown up to him and was a handful all afternoon. He headed on for Williams, charged in and blazed over, won and held up before laying off to Shinnie who set Albie up and he battled all afternoon. If he can stay fit and continue to play like that, he should get well into double figures.  I was pleased too for Omar Bogle. I don't think he's anywhere near Chuks' level but he was on hand to knock in Gunter's cross ball and good to see him off the mark. Maybe he too can show us what Bowyer sees in  him.
  • Morgan helped bring Watson into the game by being dynamic and everywhere on the pitch

Interesting theory - Maatson got the yellow deliberately.

Bows : " right lad you're getting a rest Wednesday, come off with a  booking or on a stretcher"

At one point it looked like Smyth had two kneecaps.
He probably has you know.

    Indeed, you'd hope he has.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the intent was to get a late booking.

It had occurred to me that it would have been waste for him to be rested for one match, come back and then get his 5th booking!

agreed - morgan played well but having a centre forward on the pitch who is bullying and taking on the defence at will is massive and the most important position on the pitch - no threat up front and all else suffers

How very dare you suggest that a manager from Canning town could be that devious?

It was just a coincidence that with a few seconds to go and with the game won young Ruud Maatsen got involved with the opposition player and got a yellow card which resulted in a one match ban.

I would say that is a very interesting theory.
     o:)
  • Missed the burton game, but thought we were excellent  yesterday.. didnt think we would get much at Ipswich (even if we had beaten burton). Glad to see bogle and morgan up and running

He can be our Yann for this season, a player who was the difference between going up as champions and being in the play-offs. Just needs to stay fit.

Bogle is more of a Paul Hayes. Nothing wrong with that though, he has a part to play even if he’s not the answer longer term.
  • I only saw the second half. Ipswich were poor, Judge and Dozzel both class players but defensively there were ripe for the taking

No bad second half performances from us. Albie Morgan absolute quality again everytime he is on the ball. So happy for Omar Bogle getting the goal his performances have deserved

Worried about Paul Smyth that looked a bad one

Shinnie faultless as well and I thought Gilbey played well when he came on. Watson also is fully in his stride now also

One thing to mention we need Famewo, Pearce and Inniss fit. Gunter and Prattley are doing their bit but a sharp manager will be targeting them like Buxton did in the week
  • Now I won't deny I missed the celebration in real time but Bogle 100% celebrated the goal. Love the headbutt from Aneke pushing him into the onrushing Morgan too.

Further proof of the commentators had a restricted view was the fact that one of them said that Bogle hit the far post and it went in,
  • 3 points against an albeit out of form promotion rival, Albie scores a well deserved goal and Omar the B gets off the mark, what's not to be pleased about ?
