Has Bowyer lost it?

  • Thomas is quiet tonight.
I'm pretty sure he will be taking advice from Ged Roddy & possibly other knowledgeable people, something doesn't seem right at the club after all of the positivity when TS first came in.
  • We need something to change but not the manager. He needs help, our coaching numbers are light!

We need a first team coach, someone with experience and someone that can give the players a bit of a lift
I'd prefer a sports psychologist to be honest.

    Why not both?
  • Such a shame how it's gone since TS took over. As others have said before it's like he thrived on the difficult situation at the club when there was no pressure on him. Really feels like he's not got long left here.

Pains me to say it but it’s time for a change.
It is painful, I think 99.9% of us were desperate for him to be successful. He looks lost now, I’m not even sure he wants to be here.
  • Totally changed my mind on giving him til the end of the season after those post match comments... Absolute disgrace and id sack him tonight.
  • I usually think a managers influence is blown well out of proportion but hes been slagging his players off in public for weeks and that is unacceptable..
  • I don’t think TS is an itchy trigger owner. Unless the wheels fall off completely then he’ll be given the season at least. I hope so.
  • Those comments about Maddison are disgusting in public. Keep that shit in house. Once again, shifting the blame.
I'm not with a manager constantly trashing his own players in public. It's crossing a line that can mean no way back.

Soon there'll be no one left he can blame.

It had crossed my mine. Is Bowyer just angry or testing TS patience to try and get a deal worked out for his 3 year contract? (Or what is 2 years Southall gave him, cant remember).
  • Not Bowyer out yet, but whilst he can't really control things like Pearce slotting headed through balls to opposition strikers, he is in control of how he conducts himself and he sounds like a drowning man at the moment, someone fire up the laundry van and get Jackson out of the shower for the post match interview
  • Bowyer needs a break for a couple of weeks.
  • Another night spoiled ! Yes our club was saved but I’m back to a dark mood about CAFC. Something not right.

    Yeah, time to go fishing.

He needs some quiet time to reflect.

You don't even keep those thingss in house... "I don't care (whether he has a serious injury)"!?!
  • Anyone have a video of the post match interview?

Stick with him. Alot of what he said was 'heat of the moment' comments & actually true despite being communicated unprofessionally.

I feel sorry for him as if Inniss was fit we wouldnt be in this position. Our CBs being over powered is where we lost tonight's game.

I personally would spend all the Doughty cash on the Gillingham CB who is young enough not to affect the wage bill. We have alot of games in Jan and could be out of the playoff picture if we dont bring in a reliable CB soon.

I also agree with Lee that we need more than the above in order to be promo contenders. Let's hope we can move some players on to make room for strengthening.
  • Whatever.
I hope there is somebody able to put an arm around Lee right now.
    Pretty lonely situation.
He simply mustn't diss the players publically though. About as schoolboy a managerial error as you can make even if the players are not delivering for you.
There are some players who need to respond properly too however.

  • I really don't understand how people are giving Bowyer grief for this one when it should be laid at the feet of the players today. Started with a back four made up of our first choice RB and LB and our two back up CBs because our main two are injured. Went 4-3-3 with pace out wide to deal with the fact our issues have been a lack of width and pace. In the midfield we were without our two proper holding midfielders and had to play JFC there, so Gilbey and Morgan were the logical choices to go alongside him as they offer more playing both ways. People were upset that Maddison and Williams didn't start but playing one of them is just asking to be overrun as part of that midfield. Unforunately Albie wasn't at it, Gilbey was just ok and JFC isn't the man to properly shield the defence. Pearce made a massive cock up and so did Maatsen for their two goals. We had 9 shots on target to their 3, but two of those were chances they couldn't miss because the defence handed it to them on a plate. Maddison and Williams both came on and proceeded to be absolute jank and justified not starting in that midfield because we went from not having much cohesion in there to having absolutely nothing. Williams was nowhere near the play and Maddison just drifted about. Chuks came on and failed to impact the game.
We got what we wanted; a sensible formation, players in their correct positions, Bogle dropped, positive subs. The amount of changes we've had to make because of injuries and suspensions left that midfield lacking cohesion but other than that what can any manager do when an experienced centre half decides to fuck up a basic header back to his keeper, or your left back dawdles on the ball on the edge of his box? Not everything has to be laid at the manager's feet. We're missing our two best centre backs, our midfield creator and both our experienced holding mids. Tonight was disappointing but if your instinct is to throw a tantrum and want the manager sacked based on what he picked today then I don't think you're ever going to be happy. Seems now we're in League One if we're not beating unfashionable teams then everything is a disgrace. We've become shockingly entitled given what we've been through recently as fans
Not to be too sarcastic, but when you're praising a manager for starting players in their rightful positions, you're off on a losing run.

Aside from individual performance, passes weren't linking up, there seemed to be no cohesion between the team, took off a 'fully fit' player that was our only positive outlet in Millar, seemed buck out of ideas - just for a few.
  • It’s all very well saying all managers go through a bad patch but when you lose the dressing room and respect of the players no amount of tactical nous will get you out of it. Slagging off and disrespecting your players in public is a sure way to fuck yourself up for the future.
  • I cannot help but admire his raw honesty, off the cuff emotion and direct to the point analysis, he’s a throwback.

But it doesn’t work does it?  Not in this day and age.  It’s ineffective, and not caring about someone being injured, too far.
If he pisses off the entire squad they'll soon have enough of him...
  • TS is a very positive person.

At the moment, Bowyer is completely the opposite.

That situation can't continue for long before it all falls completely apart.

Both would be great, I'm just saying what my priority would be.
