Lose tonight and I can’t see any way that Sandgaard can really keep Bowyer. That being said, I hope we win and it’s the start of a resurgence - seems unlikely however.
I genuinely thought the game was tomorrow! I wish I hadn’t read this, now I’ll have to watch it.
I've heard all sorts of things about managers. Criticism typically comes from disgruntled players, so will at best be coloured by their mood.
In my 40+ years of supporting this club, the vast majority has been spent punching above our weight. We were lucky to have Lennie, Curbs, Powell - even Parky, as I'm not sure how many even now know how tough things were at the club them.
Personally I'd say we punched above our weight 2 years ago, and did so again last year. This squad isn't anywhere near the quality of 2 years ago, and even if we reached the playoffs I'd have no confidence we'd win them. I think we probably aren't far off where we should be on paper in truth. Our expectations were raised by the run of 6 or 7 wins, but the rest of the season has been pretty mediocre, players switching off, making errors that lead to goals.
We're going to massively change the squad in the summer whoever's in charge. I don't think Bowyer's become a bad manager overnight, but he's obviously frustrated with the quality and heart of players he has to deal with.
For me, Bogle is the biggest indicator of what happened in the summer. He'd be nowhere near our club in other circumstances but he was the best available to us. Lots of factors in a poor season but for me the manager is not the biggest problem. Is he on form? No, not at all. But his players are letting themselves down even more than they're letting him down.
I'm not going to buy into rumours, but even so there are ructions at clubs week in week out up and down the country. Big deal. Williams isn't here any more, he's been crap all season anyway like many of the rest of them.
I'd give Bowyer the chance to build the squad he wants - the first chance he's had - and judge him at Christmas.
Finally, for all the revisionists, I didn't see Robinson getting the best out of the same set of players Bowyer got promoted. He's shown he's capable with a set of players good enough and willing enough to do what he asks. It's a bad time right now, no question, but maybe it's the time for Charlton fans to do what we used to do and get behind the manager and the players and not add another distraction to the current mess.
‘Supposition dressed up as fact’ should be the title of this thread. Some wild leaps of faith here from people who have way too much time on their hands.
I get some want Bowyer sacked pronto.
The witch hunt is reaching mouth-frothing levels though.
Now getting to the stage that there are more of these posts than actual 'mouth-frothing' ones.
I am keeping an open mind on the rumours, and won't condemn LB on the strength of them, but really, they are beside the point.
LB has lost the plot, without question. All the evidence on the pitch confirms that he is no longer the person to lead our club into its bright new future.

Standard CharltonLife thread circle.
I heard he once ate a live baby
Word on the street is that he uses kittens as bait when he goes fishing.

I heard that the dinosaurs looked at Lee Bowyer the wrong way once. You know what happened to them.

Everything else is just noise.
