If Pratley and JFC both sit in front of the back four, we may still be in it by the time our big guns come on. Presumably JW not fit to start, as he did better defensively on Saturday than Smyth can.
Not surprised at the front two. I reckon Bow is going to try to keep Peterborough out for 60 minutes and then unleash Chuks and Ronnie to grab a couple of late goals.
God our fans on twitter sometimes, literally whoever we would have started there would have been uproar. People moaning about Pearce, when there is not many options right now, Smyth based on his RWB performance, Bogle as he hasn't really offered much. At the mo we need to make the most of the squad and have to trust the management know what they are doing. This is the exactly sort of game we will get a result, if we can keep in it or level for the supersubs we have a chance. At least it looks quite balanced and no square pegs in round holes.
Come on you reds, would be a big result this. Or if we go down do it fighting and have a go!
Teams looks fine to me, wear em' down with the likes of Millar, Smyth and the Bogle we saw against Rovers, bring on Aneke and Schwartz later. Plenty of defensive players to keep them at bay as well, the right team selection imo, other than Aneke for Bogle we couldn't have expected much else
Will probably get flamed for this (or live to regret it) but its not a bad team. Would probably prefer either Aneke or Schwartz to start but don't think they are physically up for it atm.
I must of had a bang on the head or something as I agree with you. I wonder if the weather and pitch conditions have made LB make a late change though. He seems to have gone a lot more attacking than many of us thought he would.

I mean, you could argue against changing a winning side, but only if you didn't previously complain about players out of position when others better suited to said position are fit.
What am I missing with Smyth? I think he’s been alright
Watson's been injured, Gilbey's on the bench, Bogle has been moved down to his more suitable position as sub since Schwartz came in. Got to go after someone
Aneke can’t start 3 games in a row as we all know. Schwartz isn’t fit and I think Bowyer will be looking to keep it tight until the game opens up a bit in the second half. I just really hope we don’t concede early and the defence grows in confidence.
Just the Pearce thing, I don't get it, keep a clean sheet, change the defence unnecessary.
And yet Bowyer has repeatedly been moaned at on here for square pegs in round holes...
I had no issue with either Gunter or Pearce @ Centre-Back - But does need some perspective at the same time, Bowyer has a Centre-Back available so as per recent weeks on here, should be playing a Centre-Back there
Don't like that line up. Play your best players from the start. I suspect come 2nd half we'll be needing Aneke and Schwartz on to chase the game. Hope I'm wrong

WIth the current games thick and fast, it is about game management mostly. People who played at the weekend ideally you want some fresh faces make the most of the squad. Admittedly this is a tough game to rely on back ups but also maybe he has an eye on the weekend.
There just seems to be so many factors right now, i get people get disappointed with selections and i have aswell sometimes a big sigh when the teams are announced. Just seems our twitter fan base just tip the scale and are very quick to judge, be nice if we can get anything out of this game regardless on selection.
Playing Smyth is a more attacking move than Gilbey or another CM out wide. We actually have a decent 442 lineup with every player in their correct position.
Weird how all our fans are moaning on Twitter about this line-up. They've previously been all 'phwoar that looks amazing' about patently unbalanced lineups. This team has players in correct positions
Aneke and Williams always likely to come out due to too many games in a week. I guess Schwartz still not quite there yet fitness wise either. Would prefer to see all three starting but understand why they aren't. It looks like a lot of changes to a winning team, but I think what Bows has put out makes sense. Tactics are uncomplicated and everyone is in their natural position and aren't all defenders so that's a good start. Hopefully Bogle picks up where he left off on Saturday and we're still firmly in the game come the second half when we should be able to start unleashing what looks a very strong bench.
Only slight concern is I thought Famewo was expected back at least on the bench. Hopefully no major setbacks for him.
Personally it's Pratley I am really most worried about. I think he encompasses all that is good about us, but also all that is bad.
Albie has more pace, and the ability to drive the play forwards after defensive phases. I worry with Pratley back in the team with a centre midfield of two, we might end up passing the ball aimlessly around the back again.
Think this could be a 4-2-3-1 with Pratley and JFC sitting in front of the back four with Washington wide left, Millar through the middle and Smyth wide right.
Comments
Gunter - Oshilaja - Pearce - Maatsen
Smyth - Pratley - F.Caskey - Millar
Bogle - Washington
Quite happy with that. Assume Shinnie to get some minutes, as well as Aneke & Schwartz to do 30 mins.

Nowt to moan about
Shame he doesn't think he can get another hour out of Aneke and Williams.
I say 442 but isn't this practically the same players we expected to play 442, or similar, against Rochdale?
You can't complain about Bowyer playing players out of position if you're then going to ask him to do exactly that.
Gunter has cost us more goals at CB this season than Pearce.
