Wicket to Gilchrist as a result of a good diving catch from Jas. Anyone who knew Jas as a youngster would tell you he wasn't one of the greatest fielders and that was being polite. All arms and legs and only 50/50 to ever take one. Just goes to show what hard work can do.
The 3 tier system has slightly worked against us this season, as we've ended up in a group which is well below our "real" level due to the poor start to the season
On the afternoon of the 4th day, Logan loses his "thanks for coming" status by coming on to bowl. And promptly concedes 8 runs off one ball by bowling a front foot no ball that is despatched over the stand. His poor Mum has been there to watch him since the first day!

I think what we are learning from our early and of season form is that there are counties that are a lot worse than us, that our bowling attack is a good one in the right conditions and when all our batsmen are on form we can muster a score. One would imagine that we aren't going to lose many to international call ups next season and with the addition of a couple of decent overseas (in red and white ball) we should be very competitive. "Should" being the operative word.
Why are kent now in the 3rd division when pre covid, they were in the top division
The current arrangement is different than before
3 "random" mini leagues to start the season, and depending on how well you do, you then finish the season in one of 3 graded leagues. We were rubbish, hence we're in the 3rd division

As a one off for this season , To reduce matches/travelling the teams were put into 3 divisions of 6. They played the other five home and away. After those games all the teams that finished 1st and 2nd were put in division 1. 3rd and 4th into division 2 and 5th and 6th into division 3.
The points you scored in the two games against the team that joined you in the new league were halved to give a one game average that was carried over into the new division. You then play the other 4 teams in the new division and those points are added in full to the carried over points to get that division’s winner.
Only division one is relevant in regards to winning the county championship as the top team will be county champions. The top two will also play a 5 day match at Lords for the Bob Willis trophy
So basically Kent are doing well in the worst of the rest division

274 more required but we only have to take 5 more wickets as one of their players is out injured
another to Gilchrist
172-7
one wicket to take
Final wicket to Podmore
The injured player has a runner, and it's now 180-9
That really is it folks
Made hard work of it but a 3rd win in a row. Can we make it 4 against Middx next week ?
