I'm far from Bowyer's greatest fan but credit where credit is due, that was a much better interview and good to see him supportive of Schwartz (at least in public)
”mixed emotions. The game is crazy. You’re high you’re low.” ”opportunity at the end. Good save from keeper. Disappointed as it was a big opportunity to win the game” ”draw was probably fair” ”Conor is our penalty taker. Ronnie has taken them in past. He took the penalty but it was a good save. He normally goes top corner”
Continued:
”I’d trust him to take the next one too. I’m not blaming him, it was a great save” ”A lot of positives. We looked solid” ”We didn’t take care in final third again. We’re better than that. Should have done better” ”Overall, it was a good solid away performance” ”This is going to be decisive time next three games. It will decide what’s going to happen.”

Would love to see him help his confidence by starting him Tuesday
What a dreadful game. Nearly unwatchable the quality was so low. Then, out of no where, you think we’ve finally got the change of luck we’ve been craving - a soft penalty in a bit of a 6 pointer vs another team, claiming at least, to be chasing a playoff spot. I wasn’t confident in Ronnie because lets be honest he hasn’t given any reason to be, but he was a logical a choice to take it as any. Wasn’t a terrible penalty but he’s gone for power down the middle but not found the very middle. Do that and the keeper’s got a chance, even more so if you don’t keep it low or go high. Feel for him.
Extremely frustrating. It feels like a pivotal moment that could’ve really changed our fortunes. We didn’t deserve to win but we needed it and you have to grab chances like that. Imagine the difference in atmosphere in the dressing room, in Ronnie’s morale. Gutted.
Pretty boring game, absolutely no spark in midfield!
Whilst Watson supports the defence well, he’s just a long ball/whack it out merchant- doesn’t breed any positivity football wise.
have to have shinnie playing, with both millar and Washington on top form.
Realistically it’s not going to happen this season, but feel like a little run could see us leeching into the play offs!
A win, and were on 50 points- would have looked good.
really feel for Schwartz though, it just won’t fall for him- we don’t play the football he needs to poach and score, but equally when he gets the chance , the pressure is unbearable on him (can’t think bowyer helps either)....
The fella gets, at max, 10 minutes a week and we expect him to score for fun - never going to happen!!!
fingers crossed we look at the positives, and go again next week - play to our strengths , and

Spoke well after the game!!
Bit more of a spring in his step for sure. Nice to hear him talking like that again.

Not sure I'd go that far!
I know they've just put four past Portsmouth so we cant be naive but if Ronnie cant handle Northampton!!
Got to agree that looked like a draw all day long, except in the last few seconds before the last second, when indeed it was a draw. Why am I not doing the commentary?
The application and effort has been there in the past 2 games, but a turgid performance in terms of talent and quality on show. That’s just where we’re at.
A couple of clean sheets now, and we certainly look a lot more organized over the last 2 games, but this is a limited squad.
Y-a-w-n! What a dreary and boring team we are: misplaced passes,
errors of control, wrong decisions in possession. Not a flicker of
invention or inspiration anywhere on the pitch. The standard of
crosses and shots by most teams in this division is jaw-droppingly
abysmal.
Amos looked shaky
and was saved by the woodwork; Pearce and Famewo almost signed a
suicide pact; central midfield was vapid, as usual. Up front, Aneke
was anonymous apart from another flailing elbow; Washington made no
impression whatsoever; and in having his penalty saved, Schwartz
proved he is the biggest flop since Ajose.
Gillingham are just
one point behind us. This is the poorest Charlton side in living
memory.
It was a pretty good penalty, hard ,but a bit too low, keeper saved but was very lucky it just hit his wrist a flew over the bar, could have gone in and we would all be thinking great, so there you go. One things for sure, if it had been at the other end we all know the result don't we, so we come away with a point, it's one gained i feel, and we go onto Northampton Tuesday in the first of 3 home games, so let's just win them ffs, get something right at what we used to call Fortress Valley.
Schwartz getting slated week in week out is getting silly.
Just imagine if it was Bogle who had had put in similar performances week in week out....
Bogle's playing style was advertised as being similar to Aneke.
Schwartz has always been an off the defenders shoulder player. No one has tried to paint him differently.
What do you mean by that? What type of striker they are has absolutely nothing to do with my original point - but in a way backs it up.
The fact of the matter is we had two under performing strikers yet some of the abuse aimed at one, whilst the quickness to defend the others by fans was and is disproportionate.
We're not getting promoted this season, there's just not enough quality or character about this team. However, we have improved defensively of late and today could prove to be a good point if we can turn around our home form.

Agree with the thinking but we really need to get a settled team/formation/style

Very gutted as that win would be huge for Charlton.

Sick of the wrist slitting negativity on here and know I don't have the willpower to stay away.

Regards the game, it's a point and 2nd clean sheet in a row. Positive steps.

Ronnie 14/16 (guess that's now 17)
JFC 4/6
Shinnie 2/4
Stockley 0/0

Great defensive performance again, back to back clean sheets for the first time since October.
The focus should not be on their keepers great save.
