Few things here, wrestling isn't in a slump. WWE is making huge money. Reigns is surely a big star as well.
Austin can't bump so will have to win. His opponent will have to be someone who won't get hurt by a loss, similar to Bret V VKM. An Austin return will be a big deal but isn't 'mania selling out before any of the card is announced or is that no longer the case? If he returns expect Saudi Ariba!
Mania hasn't sold out because its two days in the same stadium, so double the number of tickets for half the card.
Hence headlining night 4 of a buy one get one free extravaganza, has CM Punk might say.
Reigns and Lasner are the only two big stars the WWE have and neither of them were made.
The problem with WWE is they don't want to build stars too much, so they have people flip flop between the PPVs and they go through a lot of 50/50 booking. Guys that are about to have a title match in 3 weeks will have a couple of matches beforehand, where they beat eachother in consecutive weeks, or team up with other people that are also feuding and have a tag team match. It kills the momentum of most of the wrestlers, and doesn't create a big fight feel. To avoid that they also try and do it another way, where they set up matches early to sell the tickets, so you'll know that Goldberg and Roman Reigns are having a match like 6 weeks before, but they won't let them wrestle eachother, so they just have endless promos against eachother.
In Kevin, Seth, Randy, Roman, Drew, Bobby, Brock and then in Charlotte, Ronda, Becky, Bianca and Sasha, they have enough people who could be absolutely huge stars who are spoken about in the same sentence as HBK, SCSA, The Rock, HHH, Flair, Undertaker and the rest.

All the main headliners have now retired, or they are on the verge of it.
The big names have proven to be irreplaceable.
I have no direct idea about the companies financial status. I think Vince McMahon is a genius and has done very well in keeping it alive. It has faced a lot of challenges

WWE recorded record profits recently, whilst cutting a shit tonne of in ring talent and backroom staff. Most of their revenue is through TV deals, subscriptions and merchandise now I would imagine

Vince is a genius. He is/was a ruthless negotiater, a visionary promoter and is able to sell ice to Eskimos.
He isn't, and never has been, a wrestling visionary or great booker. He has never really understood why what works works because he has no outside frame of reference.
He has never watched any other wrestling nor has he ever had any intrest in any pop culture.
He get accused of burying talent or ideas that he didn't "create", that's because he had no idea why they were popular in the first place.
Ciampa v Gargano was the previous great one. Sadly we're now at a stage of looking back and reminiscing how good NXT was.
Jericho v MJF was amazing and probably overlooked now. For all the talent AEW bring in their best star was a relative unknown plucked from the indies.
Jericho v MJF was booked arse backwards. They could have made so much more of it. And the wrong person won.
I was watching this weeks MJF v Punk promo last night. I can't remember a heel since Mr McMahon that I just want to see get his arse kicked. It's brilliant. I can't think of anyone who is as good a natural heel in the last 20 years?

Cena?
Daniel Bryan was a superb heel during his last WWE run. No one seemed to want to cheer him which is crazy when you consider how over he was as a face. Sure there are more but he was the first that came to mind.
Not surprised that The Bucks Vs Penta and Fenix won match of the year. I thought it was terrible and looking at some of the matches it beat, it's embarrassing that it could be No.1.

It wasn't even the best match on the card....
Did the hangman omega actually have enough to consider it a fued?

Yes, started after they lost the tag titles to FTR which led to the forming of the Super Elite and Omega returning to the bout machine and Page associating with Dark Order, the polar opposite of The Super Elite.

Did WWE win any awards?!
Reigns won gimmick of the year.......
The story line of Page and Omega went on for years but I don't remember them having much to do with each other on a weekly basis, apart from that cluster of a 10 man (which I tried to forget). Maybe I just forgot about it, which says a lot.

They just don't want to

Not sure how many forbidden doors that knocked down.....
On a complete change of subject just catching up on the last 4 weeks of Dynamite. Two questions.
When was there a better fude than Punk MJF?
How does doing the job to the company mascot get you a world title shot?

Miz has always been a great heel, he's got such a punchable face and a horrible nasally voice
If we're going for Cena (great shout) how about Eva Marie?!

Biggest Box Office Draw: CM Punk beats John Cena.....
