Don’t believe for a second he would ever voluntarily retire. Fully expect him to be in the ring in his 90s.

Will never forget that Vince won the Monday night war for us. Without him we would be stuck with WCW.
  • Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye!

    🤨
  • The tweet is genuine.  Don't think it will happen though.

    I mean...it's Vince
  • Something not particularly wholesome has probably forced it. I think it's legit and he'll be distancing himself from the company.
  • I’m assuming Stone Cold will give him a retirement stunner?

6 months ago I never thought he would ever retire.  I am not supprised now at all.

  • Considering after the sex scandal the first thing he did was to go on live TV, bold as brass and ignored the investigation, this feels odd. The fact it was a quiet exit just shows HOW bad it is for him now

  • HHH has now been appointed in his old role as head of talent.
  • Triple H named new head of creative.

WWE could become very watchable again
  • Expect all the great things about the old NXT to start coming round again
  • Brilliant news. Say what you want about him, but his booking of NXT was exceptionally good.
  • It's exciting times.
  • If we get a big show version  of NXT we could be  heading to a golden era.

That said watching smackdown and seeing the build up for the usos v  street profits with special guest referee Jeff Jarrett and Miz v Logan Paul and being thankful it's not Eddie v Malenko, DDP v Savage, Hogan v Sting. #ThankYouVince
  • This is the biggest change in wrestling since Bishoff started spending like a drunken sailor.  Not only will it change WWE almost overnight, but will completely change the dynamic between WWE and AEW.

The second one has the potential to really change the industry.

I wouldn’t be celebrating the news if I were Tony Khan.

One of the multiple key selling points of AEW for a lot of talent is that they know they’ll have more creative freedom, and the ability to have a bit more control over their character.

That being said. That same talent would have still grown up wanting to be in WWE more than likely. Now they know that they could have the benefits of a high scale NXT-esque type working environment will definitely make some of the AEW talent turn their heads.

Afterall, the whole reason we have AEW is because WWE chose not to provide a mainstream product that catered to wrestling fans.

Fingers crossed that all changes now - and we can enjoy having two great promotions going at it again.

    However….

With Vince now out of the business from a decision making perspective, it does also leave the door wide open for a multi-billion dollar sale which has been rumoured for a while now. Nick Khan may be looking to drive that now that he is effectively the overall decision maker on the finance side. If it does end up being sold to someone like Disney, then we’ll probably end up with the product being back to where it currently is.

Was going to raise up that last paragraph before get ahead of themselves! Share prices have risen due to rumours of a sale and Netflix and Amazon are rumoured to be interested. This news is bigger than when Fergie left united.
  • This week's Raw still felt like a Vince show.

I'm hoping it's just cause HHH didn't have time to change it, rather than Vince still pulling the strings

Doubt anyone will be able to make many changes in 4 days or so. I expect to see a gradual shift in the product, as opposed to next week a spotlight comes on and HHH is in the ring holding a mic and doing his whole "We Are NXT" schtick

It would be pretty sick though

Would expect that any changes would come post Summerslam.

To be honest, I don’t think it’s going to feel like an overnight change when it comes. It will have to be a gradual thing. Good stories and characters will take time.

Might even take 6 months to see a difference.
  • Anyone else old enough to remember the cluster when Watts got the book in WCW?  About turns often take longer than you think.  Even when the Hart foundation, HBK and Austin were on top the under card in 96 to early 97 was still very "new generation" feel.

It was only Austin and DX at the end of 97 that were attitude era during 96/97 to the annoyance of Bret. WCW was a mess until Eric (who spent far less than Tony Khan) became Vice President. Jim Herd was hardly popular.

Do you remember the first PPV Watts did for WCW?  He didn't like the card and it ended up having nearly 20 matches on it.

Not off the top of my head. I remember the first Russo & Bischoff PPV Spring Stampede 2000 having 14 which was shambolic! All WCW head honchos were bad apart from Bischoff which is why i correct people who have been drinking too much WWE coolaid and are unaware how great the late 90s were and Eric played a large part in the reason why.
  • Thought SummerSlam was pretty good

IMO when the main-event delivers, nothing else really matters, same in boxing. Haven’t watched Summerslam yet, but I know everyone went wild for the main-event.

WCW was some of the best wrestling TV ever, for about 2, 3 years.  WWE/F has never, consistently, produced great TV/PPVs.

How no one drew a dime with the dangerous alliance us beyond me.

The dream stable! Because WCW was a mess until Eric started running it is probably the correct answer despite how lazy it sounds.

WCW during Bischoff's time was an perfect example of producing great shows with awful main events!

Anyone see Flair's last match? I've seen highlights and it seems decent until the ending. Seems Ric passed out?
