Absolutely brilliant ending. The range of emotions whilst watching that. Typical WWE when they know they have a gold at the end, the rest of the PPV is normally average.
I don't see why we have any other matches other than the 2 Rumbles. I'd rather they split the night into 2 and them on one night and a card of traditional matches on the other. The 3 other matches tonight felt out of place, we had a very skippable women's title match, a weird pitch black match, and then a storyline that's overshadowing everything else in the WWE by far.
Also there was no payoff to Rey Mysterio being taken out? No backstage footage, no someone else replacing him in the match? So there was only 29 participants in the end, which is not a full Royal Rumble, so does that mean it's void? Does Rey get a 1 on 1 shot at Cody? Or will they just gloss over the whole thing?

Good point about Rey, i was expecting him to come out at the end. Perhaps it leads to Cody v Rey at the chamber?

I'm still salty about Giant Gonzales taking out the Undertaker in the '93 rumble when he wasn't a participant - I remember screaming at the VCR lol
Not something I normally focus on when watching Wrestling, but the commentary was absolutely superb all night
A hallmark of VKM not being in the ear of them all night. Michael Cole in particular said he's had a new lease of life being able to call the action without having him screaming in his ear about 5 different things every match. Combine that with Corey Graves who's fast becoming one of the great "heel" commentators, and the charisma of Pat McAfee and it was a fantastically called night
WWE PPVs since Triple H took over have developed of having a trend of being OK to good for the most of the night, but then having a ridiculously great, memorable moment at the end to sign off. And that’s a marked improvement on what was happening before.

Remember that was the year after Randy Savage eliminated himself but it "didn't count" because he was meant to be in the final 4. Which happened to be the same year Hawk did the same thing in a bottle royal and it did count. Anyone would think they made the rules up as they went along...

The Rey Mysterio thing got me baffled too, was expecting him to come out and go after Dom at least, or appear half injured before the 30th entry. Cody was a bit of a stale winner too. The Reigns V KO match was great though just wish he’d lose it now they’re letting it get stale. And what was with all the NXT in the women’s rumble?
I wonder where we get from this to WM, obviously Reigns is defending against Cody, but will KO and Zayn be in a main event too? Will they strap the rocket to Zayn like they did with Bryan all those years ago (apparently the original storyline with Zayn and the Bloodline was meant to last 3 weeks, but Zayn got it over and so they kept running with it)
I'm of the opinion that there's money to be made in a singles match between Zayn and Reigns, but how do they get there from here is beyond me, especially as Zayn wants no part of Saudi Arabia and they go there about 3 weeks after 'Mania.
Maybe they have Zayn and Owens now team up and slowly but surely take the rest of The Bloodline out of commission until there's no-one there to protect Reigns (like taking Voldemort's Horcruxes out) and after he barely scrapes past Rhodes on night one, Owens lays him out for his best friend on night two and Zayn wins the big one?
I'm also intrigued to see where this leaves The Uso's as a team, will this divide mean they lose one (or both) of their belts?
My early WM would look something like:
Rollins Vs Paul Edge & Phoenix vs Ripley & Balor (though I'm not sure Ripley would double duty over 2 days) Mysterio Vs Mysterio Hair Vs Mask match (have Rey win, then later on in the year run the retirement angle) Belair Vs Ripley Charlotte Vs Rousey Reigns Vs Rhodes (night 1) Reigns Vs Zayn (night 2) Gunther Vs McIntyre Lashley Vs Lesnar Wyatt Vs Howdy (Bo Dallas)
A couple more grudge matches that haven't come to light yet A couple of tag matches A multiple man match for the US Title A Bad Bunny match again
Maybe if they can lure SCSA once more then a match for him? Maybe against Austin Theory, or The Miz, someone with a super punchable face
Interested to know what other matches people think can happen (I'm probably missing a bunch of obvious ones)
I can see a new anti uso group being formed with Sammy Zayn, Kevin owens and Jay Uso.
Wrestlemania will be stale with Cody Rhodes in the main event, something has to add to that, I’m thinking Reigns loses the title before wrestlemania and invokes his rematch clause, making it a triple threat match at mania. Rhodes vs Reigns just doesn’t do it for me lol.
Rumours of Cena returning for a while, that could ignite a few things.
I like Rhodes a lot, but him jumping to the main event of Wrestlemania does feel a bit too quick. He has had one angle since joining, with Seth Rollins, and then a 6 month break.
Wouldn't surprise me if he had it in his contract that he gets one Wrestlemania main event in order to make the jump from AEW.

Probably at the expense of a decent wrestlemania. Cody Rhodes has about as much personality as a gold fish, he lives his career off the back of his father, the most interesting he ever was was when he broke his nose and went into hiding.

He is a great storyteller for major angles when he needs to be. Really enjoyed him in AEW and was disappointed to see him leave.
I expect he will do a good job with this run up to Mania as an underdog babyface, and there will be some great promos.
I just feel it might play second fiddle to the Zayn story if they’re running side by side.
If you have two title matches on two nights at Mania, then surely whatever goes on first you know is an absolute formality.

I agree that Rhodes in the main event is too soon. Is he being rewarded for going to the gym with a torn peck?! I thought the fans would shit on him winning it from number 30 like they did with Batista. Still, at least it wasn't Dwayne.
No way would they give him a main event in his contract. He left AEW because he wanted too, similar issues to Punk!

Didn't Macho Man do the same in 92? Jake The Snake got eliminated and Macho jump out of the ring and ran after him, only for him to come back in later.
Gorilla Monsoon covered for him by saying he wasn't eliminated properly because no one threw him out.

Yep 92 the year before 93 :win:wink:
Hawk did exactly the same at the Battle Royal at the Royal Albert Hall (end of 91) yet was eliminated. But it's the same Savage that went for a pin at the end of the 93 RR. I think he struggled with the concept 🤣

I'm gonna have to go re watch those 2 rumbles now. got me feeling all nostalgic!

I listened to this the other day, without watching along as I had seen it so many times.

I'm confident AEW will give this plenty of time.

Elimination chamber is in Montreal. Sami wins that, and Reigns defends against Cody one night and Sami the other.
I can't think of a better storyline in WWE since Austin v McMahon than Sami v Reigns. The segment on Raw and last night were superb.
Cody being number 30 and winning but Drew doesn't win in Cardiff as it was too predictable? Very odd. Great to see Walter/Gunter getting pushed.
Brilliant closing segment last night.
