Think the best thing that England can do is try to find a replacement for Boothroyd that can also be a replacement for Southgate in the future - Get someone who can work with the next batch of kids and then move up with them...
We're seeing decent kids coming through because they've been kept together going through the various age groups, moving up from the U16s - U18s - U21s etc. of course there will always the likes of Foden or Sancho who will skip U21 level because they're good enough for the Seniors by that stage, but if we're breeding familiarity with the players, why not the Manager too?
Unless he wants to keep his options open in the club game; Frank Lampard is probably the best shout

I have been saying this for years. The under 21 manager should take over from the senior manager immediately after the World Cup. He would know all the up and coming players and be able to bring them through and not have the affinity for the ‘old players’. The Europeans should be used as as preparations for the World Cup. Not a sacking offence if we don’t win the bloody thing!
Either way, don’t let Boothroyd near anymore of our youngsters. Dinosaur.
A bizarre appointment all round after his club record.
I remember bumping into Theo Foley after we had beaten a thoroughly basic and unedifying Colchester side 1-0 at The Valley in League 1 over 10 years ago.
As the great man remarked with a shake of the head: "All Aidy's teams play like that". Enough said.
yeah but Boothroyd said it is the hardest job in football yesterday- harder than managing the main England squad
Although it is obviously a long long way from the hardest job in football, i do see the point he is making.
He could've selected the likes of James, Foden, Mount, Rice, Sancho, Bellingham, Alexander-Arnold, Greenwood and Saka but couldn't select any because of senior calls up and injuries.
No other country has to deal with that as much as we do because of the way we fast track our youngsters. Look at Portugal for example. Pedro Goncalves is 22 and the top scorer in the Portuguese league this season. Trincao is 21 and has played over 30 times for Barcelona this season. If they were English they'd have been in the senior squad at least a year ago and not a chance we'd be playing them in an U21 tournament.
Boothroyd is a joke. He said something along the lines of “I’ve brought the likes of Foden, mount, Tomori, DCL and Abrahams (yes he added an s on the end of his name) through”. Sorry mate but you haven’t, their clubs have.
In the last Tournament he left Foden on the bench for a crucial game. Absolute dinosaur.

Have sat back and have invited Croatia on to us rather than continue with how we've played up until now
I thought we were very unfortunate.
Less of the football league rejects. Pick a good coach that wants a bit of managerial experience. Like that guy from Rangers for instance.
