Friday morning Lockdown quiz question

With no Charlton football this weekend, maybe drive yourself crazy instead by trying to find an answer to this question.......

What very rarely seen phenomenon occurred at all 3 of these Charlton games played at The Valley?

1. Charlton v Tranmere Rovers 4th November 1972

2. Charlton v Bristol Rovers 24th April 1973

3. Charlton v Coventry City 15th October 2016

If no-one gets it - then a clue arrives same time tomorrow but, knowing CL,

I suspect someone will crack it.

  • Well, I know I was at all 3 but my memory for detail is completely shot.
Is it anything to do with a goal being wrongly awarded when the ball never crossed the line?
  • Games played on a sunday?
  • Games not played on a sunday?

  • Coventry was the pigs on the pitch protest - were there protests at the other two?

    .
  • The ref got injured and had to be replaced.
  • Did they have to wear our away shorts or something obscure like that?
  • I cant even remember the result from that Coventry game
  • I wore the same pair of lucky underpants to each game.
  • A member of the crowd had to take over as a match official because of injury to ref or linesman or 4th official ?
  • The only known dates that there was no smoking in the Covered End bogs?

The ref got injured and had to be replaced.
That would be my guess as well
  • @ElfsborgAddick bought a round.
I think you are right - they were the time when he was in the pub on his own.
  • Enjoying the humorous quips

However, it is going to require a bit of research (hence lockdown time) so guesses won't get you there.

@bobmunro - I was at both of the 70s games and I don't think there were any protests, in fact, I'm sure there weren't.

I've got to work this afternoon so when I come back on-line this evening I'll add the clue then if no-one has cracked it instead of waiting until tomorrow.

That must have been painful for him.
  • Lewis Page got injured in all of them
  • Charlton actually played well for more that 20 mins in each game?
  • @ElfsborgAddick bought a round.
I keep telling you, whenever I'm in a Wetherspoons.
  • Did the club hire bully boys to intimidate it's own fans?
  • Checking the record books and there is no mention of ref changes, dogs on pitch,  fog, rain,  bodies falling out of passing jets.

We had more than 3 shots on target in each game?

    We didn't hit the woodwork?
  • Are they the dates upon which current or former members of our scouting network were born, the last being Little Tommy Driesen.
