this is the answer below that I was going to put up if no-one got it:
The answer is of
course Flying Pigs.
Charlton v Coventry
went viral with the ‘Pigs might Fly joint protest by Charlton and
Coventry fans against the Duchatelet Regime and Coventry owners SISU which
indeed saw pigs flying onto the pitch at the start of the game.
Charlton v Tranmere
Rovers in 1972 saw the appearance in goal of Tommy Lawrence (Tranmere and ex
Liverpool) whilst Jim Eadie kept goal for Bristol Rovers in the 1973 game at
The Valley.
Both keepers acquired
the nickname, and were known affectionally by their respective fans as, The
Flying Pig.
BTW I threw two pigs
onto the pitch from the front of the East Stand at the start of the Cov game
one of which was handed back to me by Steve Ogrizovic the Coventry goalkeeping
coach – so I kept him (the pig that is not
Steve Ogrizovic).
