  • So, will their line up of a 39 year old retiree & an ex CAFC (not very good) striker score enough to beat us...?
  • Not sure how I feel about the lineup tbh but let's hope it gets the 3 points

  • Gawd knows what formation we’ll play 🤔

    my guess is 4-5-1

    Off to Bonny Donny today.

Notice we have a lady lino this afternoon, the highly rated Lisa Rashid. Is she the first female official at a Charlton match - and therefore a bit of history being made today?

Nads has had a fortnight to look over the squad, form his impressions and put his own fingerprint on the squad.
Liked his comment:  “What have we got to lose? Let’s try and be as positive as we can" .

Bang on. That's what I like to see from our manager.

Team lineup: No idea if Ryan is fit enough or no, but Washo out hamstrung.
    Chance for Rocket Ronnie perhaps?

    Ryan's back!

Charlton: Amos; Inniss, Pearce (C), Purrington; Matthews, Pratley, Forster-Caskey, Gilbey, Maatsen; Jaiyesimi, Stockley

Substitutes: Maynard-Brewer, Gunter, Oshilaja, Shinnie, Watson, Millar, Aneke

Live on Sky. No Valley Pass production, except some foreign countries (not including Cornwall, unfortunately :smile )
No Scott Minto Show today, either. That's a big miss, I always enjoy the pre-match bants with Scotty & Curbs plus legendary Addick.

    Come on you REDS!

I'm a little stunned to say the least, but this is Nadkins squad.

Let's see how we do. Not going to guess the formation as we have so many defensive players.
  • Amos,
    Matthews, Innis, Pearce, Purrington
    Jaiyesimi, Pratley, JFC, Maatsen
    Gilbey
    Stockley

    Is this it?!  Or:

    Amos
    Innis, Pearce, Purrington
    Matthews, Pratley, JFC, Maatsen
    Jaiyesimi, Gilbey
    Stockley

Either way, very negative to me.  But what do I know hopefully all part of a plan.

I don’t get why Aneke is on the bench after two weeks off.

I do like matthews over Gunter personally.

Don’t like Shinnie on the bench, but let’s see if Gilbey has a new lease of life.
  • Well no room for cowboy joe maybe he will go back to crap danish football next season.

  • James Coppinger must be about 40!  Good player though. Can’t see an obvious formation in our line up but Atkins has license to fart around a bit with our resources in preparation for next season which is, realistically, what the rest of this season is about.

Interesting quote from Nadkins I've just seen: "“Maybe I’ve got in my mind the way I want us to play. But maybe just at this moment in time, where our squad of players are collectively and individually, maybe they don’t fit into that."

He goes on to say it's about using whatever shape or style we can to keep the season going.

So expect we're not going to see a typical 'Adkins' transformation in style of play. Squad aren't up to it. Be interesting to see how we set out today.
    Where was this?

Obvious thing is our lack of wingers. Can’t move to a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 with only two wingers/wide forwards.
    SLP. In this article.

  • Interesting also that Morgan and Schwartz are completely dropped, Shinnie benched, this despite us not having a mobile striker or a creative CM.

  • Chucks not starting, so if we go behind we will be back to the usual chase for a point.
  • come on everyone! wheres that positive attitude?! Just got to believe we will win and then we will...
  • Good to see Innis and Gilbey back let's see what they can do.

Maatsen has been a bit suspect at left back so maybe playing further forward will help him.

    Bogle is bound to score

Bostock in Midfield will be interesting, going to be curious to see what Matt Smith is like at this level
Nice of Adkins to leave out our current Matt Smith to avoid any confusion

  • Well I doubt anyone would have predicted that team!

I'm imagining a back 3 (Innis, Pearce and Purrington as the CBs). It's possibly a 352, with DJ up front alongside Stockley
  • Hope that we get plenty of corners with Inniss playing... Its always fun to see him well out of the way in the penalty area having two from the opposition keeping his company because they cant trust him making a late run and getting involved
  • Looks an interesting line up, at last Ryan is back, sod's law ain't it now it's Akin that's out, good to se DJ staring, looks like an attacking format, for a game we must win, only real missing link is Washington, he will be a big miss

I hope he proves me very wrong, but for me, as the kids say:

    That ain't it, Chief!
  • Interesting selection.
I reckon injury influenced the selection, but there I was thinking if Nige gets a tune out of Schwartz and a full on melody out of Morgan then he's the real deal.
    Well that's not happening today.
Gilbey and Pratley must deliver big time this afternoon.
The good news is if we get a corner or free kick we have Big Rye to aim at.

  • Its saying something that the 'best finisher at the cloob' hasn't even made the 7 man bench. Only 2 strikers in the 18 man squad.
  • Good to see Inniss back, and hopefully this is a new lease of life for Gilbey.

I wonder if a change in manager will see a change in our injury fortunes

    .....................Amos

    Matthews Inniss Pearce (c) Purrington

    ............Pratley Forster-Caskey

    ........Jaiyesimi Gilbey Maatsen

    ............,,......Stockley

I quite like it set up like that...
  • According to Bobs lot, Ronnie and Washington are more likely to score than Bogle even though neither of them are playing.

Well that's not even close to a line up I would have imagined. Excited to see how it plays out.
Do you remember “odd kid” from the Fast Show ? “When I grow up, I want to see Ben Purrington and Darren Pratley play in a 4-5-1 formation .”
  • Breath of fresh air, new manager, new ideas, things can only get better, its not all about today, tomorrow, this season, its about next season for me, with our new squad to be.
  • Mmmmmm benefit of doubt. Let's see how we go
  • .....................Amos

    Matthews Inniss Pearce (c) Purrington

    ............Pratley Forster-Caskey

    ........Jaiyesimi Gilbey Maatsen

    ............,,......Stockley

I quite like it set up like that...
Indeed, that's not bad at all.

If he wants to play a 4-2-3-1 and Millar is still jetlagged, Maatsen must be the next best choice at LW. He spends most of the game there anyway!
  • Just seen we're wearing blue 🤢
