So what if he said we'd blow through the league? He also said he'd booked his ticket for the play-off final, that's how sure he was that we'd get there.
This is football and nothing is for certain. I have no intention of holding him to his optimistic forecasts. No way to measure a man who saved us from the brink.6 -
Mowatt announced he is leaving Barnsley1
-
Anyone else think the club social media has been a bit quiet since announcing Dobson? They usually put out 3 more tweets/posts with quotes from Adkins or Sandgaard. Maybe preparing for another another announcement? Probably just wishful thinking but still seems very quiet.6

Think West Brom want him after taking their manager.cafc_se7 said:Mowatt announced he is leaving Barnsley2 -
Imagine we announced Tucker/ a quality cb as well today... Feeling very positive about our business thus far. Something gives me the impression we'll be successful this season.18

If only you did reserve your judgement.golfaddick said:
My expectations are set very low mate don't you worry. I don't expect to get out of this division anytime soon. And even if/when we do I'll be quite happy with stability and a number of years in the Championship. I've done the Premiership years so I'm not expecting or hankering after that anytime soon.Dazzler21 said:
We're not a wonder signing kind of club. We NEVER have been, I expect we NEVER will be. We don't draw the attention of the real Sheikh's or the multi billionaire's that want to waste their money.golfaddick said:
I have avoided them up until today, having watched the first couple, but it caught me a bit unawares as I thought he was unveiling a new signing. If he really does this EVERY. SINGLE. DAY then God forbid & I assure you I wont be watching any more.LonelyNorthernAddick said:
It all seems pretty natural to me. Some people are just like that. If it bothers you that much golfie, just don't watch the videos or comment on it.golfaddick said:
Totally understand & agree with you, but conversley I wouldn't want to work somewhere where everyday the boss came in with cheesy one-liners about staying upbeat & positive. Yes, I'm all for being "up for it" and having a laugh & a joke, but I don't need to hear someone spouting stuff like they've got it out of a quote book.Fortune 82nd Minute said:
I know what you mean but, Lord I've worked for bosses who who were totally negative and couldn't inspire me. They absolutely sucked the life out of me and made it a misery to go into work. That is something that can never be aimed at Adkins.golfaddick said:
Really ?? I'm starting to think the opposite. Too faux positive. As someone posted months ago, just sounds like the "really brilliant !!!! " bloke from the Fast Show. Cheesy peas anyone...?Fortune 82nd Minute said:
You seriously can't help but warm to the guy!Scoham said:
Positivism is great when it's natural & not forced imo.
Anyway, not to derail this thread, as I'm sure we will be announcing another wonder signing any day now.
If that's what you desire so much, why do you choose to remain a Charlton "Supporter"? (in the loosest term, because you don't seem that supportive of the club)
It's bewildering.
Maybe just look at what we are, the little London club known for being family friendly and having a good bout in the Premier League in the 2000's days. Maybe use that to set your expectations, not the stories of the mega wealthy clubs.
The expectations are all coming from the Owner. Starting with his plan for Premiership in 5 years time & Europe in 10 !! Get real mate I'd say to him. Like with Adkins, positively is all well & good, but its got to be realistic too. Then there was the "we'll blow through this League" or some such guff. Really ?? We're already a week into the preseason & have a game against Celtic in little over a weeks time, and so far we've hardly signed anyone who you'd think would make a vast difference to last season.
Of course, I will reserve any judgement until I've seen the entire squad in action - but as it stands I'm sure even the most optimistic of you out there must be wondering just where this "blow through this league" team is going to materialise from.
Most of the rest of us realise that we won't know what our squad will look like until the window closes.
More often than not quite a few incomings happen towards the end of the window.
I can't comprehend why the same thing happens every season and yet the same people just never ever understand and yet it is so simple.22 -
There are two more signings hopefully in the pipe line a center back tucker and an attacker now you are all going to laugh at this but I think it is piggott.22

Piggott wouldn't surprise me at all. We've been told by someone on here for weeks that it won't be us and that he has another Club sorted out but if that was the case why has this other Club not announced it yet? I'm still holding out hope it's us.Addicks59 said:There are two more signings hopefully in the pipe line a center back tucker and an attacker now you are all going to laugh at this but I think it is piggott.0 -
What about Pigott though?

It wouldnt suprise me in the least mate. I have been saying for weeks that it is very quiet on the Piggott front and I had a hunch we would sign himAddicks59 said:There are two more signings hopefully in the pipe line a center back tucker and an attacker now you are all going to laugh at this but I think it is piggott.0 -
Would love to know where you're getting your info from, sounds like me playing Football Manager. Would love that to be correct, just intriguedAddicks59 said:There are two more signings hopefully in the pipe line a center back tucker and an attacker now you are all going to laugh at this but I think it is piggott.2 -
True if we sign Joe Piggott from Altrincham there will be bed wetting and some brilliant mental gymnastics.ForeverAddickted said:What about Pigott though?

Piggott fancies himself in the champ, can’t see him coming to us unless he’s received no offers from champ clubs which I’d be surprised about. Read earlier Luton were talking to him.1

Thankfully my dad sleeps on the sofa a lot so there's no need...Todds_right_hook said:

No chance we sign Pigott. We’re finding it hard to sign the best players in League Two, let alone the best players (Pigott is arguably the best striker) in League One.3

If tucker and pigott sign then just WOW !!!0

Are we? Signing Stockley and CM doesn’t suggest that.ElliotCAFC said:No chance we sign Pigott. We’re finding it hard to sign the best players in League Two, let alone the best players (Pigott is arguably the best striker) in League One.19 -

Yeah dont mean to discredit those who are provide the rumour, but I dont think I'll be able to believe that Tucker and Pigott could be signing for us until it actually happens, even then I'll be utterly amazedCharltontillidieCOYR said:If tucker and pigott sign then just WOW !!!
