as many have said there are very few if any rumours. Maybe as agents and clubs know we are looking for players and have a rich owner the club are keeping very quiet about their business so that they do not give away any clues and the first we will know is when an announcement is made - well that is what I'm hoping1

Really surprised we've not seen any trialists in the first 2 gameskillerandflash said:I wonder if we'll see any triallists tonight or Saturday. Even in a "normal" summer we usually have triallists involved in these games0 -

Been doing some digging through "football sources" on why the market is so stagnant.
The general impression I have got is more than half the EFL have taken out these monitored grants (loans), the ones that are currently under embargo are only the ones that have already breached the terms.
A lot of them are waiting to sell a player to pay it back and its become a Dutch auction. Teams offering a fraction of what they know the player is worth, knowing the selling club need the money before they can do anything themselves. Good players who are out of contract are getting offered pennies. The exception is when they are players multiple clubs really want (Wyke and Pigott were mentioned by name).
From what I gather 2 or 3 "big transfers" from the EFL to the prem will kick start the whole thing, else clubs will be giving away talent come the end of August.
It's more of a poker hand than normal. Hold your nerve is the word on the street.
Anyway no idea if that's factual, just passing it on.61 -
Sounds believable, you've got a mixture of clubs needing the money and a few like us with ambitious owners willing to invest but perhaps being patient knowing clubs will eventually have to sell. If you spend big early on word will soon get round and you'll keep having to pay bigger fees and wages.Cafc43v3r said:Been doing some digging through "football sources" on why the market is so stagnant.

Maybe it's being optimistic but I think it's more likely than the truth being TS has no money and expects Adkins to build a team full of academy players Roland style.0 -

I forgot that I was also told there was a league 1 club who want a million for a player but the best offer on the table is 200k. If it gets to the end of the window they will have to take else they can't trade to Christmas. I think we could take an educated guess who that is.Scoham said:

Didn't mention a name, the only names mentioned were players that had already moved. Tucker was my thought but it could be anyone.Scoham said:

Doesn’t surprise me, and I’ve been of the mind for a while, that until money starts flowing in the Premier League, it won’t move elsewhere. It needs a move like Grealish to City or Pope to anyone, with Villa/Burnley spending in the EFL0

There we go then. Can't possibly get more unequivocal than that - there's work being done on more signings. Who they are a d how good they'll be is of course up in the air but we're not done yet so let's rein in the doomsday talk.Scoham said:14
