My thoughts exactly, maybe it was happening anyway?

Would be incredible if Adkins kept 100% of Bowyer's staff for the long term.

This is the new Sandgaard model of business though. It's been, what, a few days since there was a rumour that Marshall might be off and yet here we are with the search done, interviews/chats completed and a new guy signed up - all completely under the radar.

I for one really like it. Speaks well of the professionalism of everyone involved.

I have never heard of him.

I suspect that this was sorted out weeks ago. Similar to the appointment of Adkins TS seems to do his work in an understated way.

    Lets hope he does well.

That is nothing, KM interviewed 20 candidates for a new manager in one morning ........ so she said  :)

Bit of a cold exit for Marshy not sure why clubs seem so reluctant to be a bit more thankful to employees when they leave.

Given the improvement in Dills and AMB he must have a been a good coach and I’ve heard good things about him. Shame he’s leaving.

Bit too many Bromley people on the inside for my liking, but welcome him none the less...

Charlton have accepted Marshall’s resignation and he will link back up with Lee Bowyer.

Someone I'd heard of, perhaps Deano.
I'm not criticising mind you, I have no opinion as I'd never heard of him.

He resigned, what sort of thanks do you think we should give people who want to leave.

A thanks and a goodbye is enough

Not knocking Marshall at all as I'm sure he did a decent job, but if we're judging him on how the keepers performed, Amos's vulnerability to long shots might be considered a failing

I'm not that surprised that the new coach is an upcoming "unknown" rather than someone we'd have heard of, Roddy and Adkins will have an idea of the coaching talent out there.

In the cases of Bowyer and Marshall moving on and a new manager and GK coach being announced then yes. In the cases of transfers no doubt its infinitely more challenging but we seem to keep our business very quiet.

Well, the new fella has the country's hottest up and coming goalkeeping talent in James Beadle to work with so doubt he was the only applicant for the job. On paper it would seem a step backwards but i guess we have to trust Roddy, Nigel  and co.

In my few visits to the Valley I sit near the dugouts. In his early days as Charlton's no.1 keeper, Phillips was constantly looking over to Marshall for advice and encouragement.  I reckon Marshall played a major part in Phillips' rapid development, as you'd of course expect from a specialist keeper coach.  B)
As said, Bowyer also talked a lot to Marshall during games, probably over tactics, as I doubt the chat was about TV or where they were going for a drink and a bite after the game. Every manager has his confidantes and advisers, Bowyer and Marshall, if not Taylor and Clough, seem to make a good team.
I belive Marshall was the one with the ear piece in talking to Brett the analyst in the upper West?
  • How tall is he?......wait a minute he's coach, or is he 3rd choice player / coach, in which case, how tall is he?
