What impressed me the most was how we controlled the game after going in front. Three minutes of possession at the end of the second period of extra time.  It usually us training in vain to get the ball back.
We use the ball so much better than I can remember us doing before - quick, sharp passes most of the time. We've been so laboured in the past.
  • So on the weekend, it's a sweepstake win or an England win...
  • Absolutely textbook extra time. 15 mins of total dominance culminating in a goal, shape change to add solidity in the second half and total control from there. Whenever we had a sniff of goal in that second half we didn't try to force anything and kept hold of the ball intelligently. Southgate has drilled these players so well and removed the individualism of players who might have tried to get their names in lights. Foden so clearly wanted to score but was mature enough to play the team game. Superb stuff and you can see how brilliant a coach Southgate is for this squad
Yeah, there was a lot of pre-game talk about Denmark’s team spirit, but it conveniently overlooked that England and Southgate have also built a great togetherness.

Italy the other great “team” of the tournament. I cannot call the final, really does look an evenly matched tie. Should be a good one.
  • Hans Christian Anderson, the cast of Borgen, that bloke off The Bridge, your boys took a hell of a beating.
I've heard the Little Mermaid is frozen in shock
  • I hope that Scottish prick kept the receipt for that Denmark shirt
It must cost him a fortune hating his betters.
  • Oh what a night.

That’ll do for now. Don’t get carried away.

It’s the real business on Sunday.
Fuck that get shit faced have a great time, we've just made our first final since 66! That's 55 years!

The first of our lives for the majority of forum members I'd bet.
    For sure!

I clearly remember the 66 World Cup....I was 4 years old and that has sustained me for 55 years....this is just a bonus ;)
  • Extraordinary and a tribute to the squad management that we have no injuries. Indeed the only injury we picked up throughout the tournament was a minor one for Saka

Find it a little bit funny that everyone is moaning Italy diving then to win on an obvious dive.  Sterling was going to ground long before there was any contact which was minimal.  Not sure why that wasn’t overturned
You've answered your own question. There was contact so not a clear and obvious error.
So it can only be a clear and obvious error if there is zero contact?  That’s not the way the rule works otherwise virtually every penalty would stand
VAR doesn't look at stuff and go "that was a bit soft, we'll overturn it". There was contact so referees call and VAR will stick with that. If there had not been any contact then it would have been different.
  • Hope and expect we will get The Doctor reffing the final

  • He's the best referee out there, far better the clown we had tonight
  • Pundits saying Denmark were the better team for 60 minutes? WTF?

I was eight, I clearly remember the goals v Argentina and Portugal but can only remember the German goals from the final.

  • Spot the balls competition.
  • How far we’ve come from 5 years ago
  • Saw the game out comfortably - team looked very assured. We will beat Italy.
  • Not his biggest fan but must admit Sterling has had one hell of a tournament.....he was still making incisive runs up until the end....impressive fitness
  • We look so much better than we did even 2 years ago. Phil Foden and Jack Grealish deserve bigger roles in this side but it’s so hard to fit everyone in. I respect that now.

We can progress evened further, but for right now English football is in a fantastic place.
  • Keane and Wrighty being taken off air it seems! Awkward!
