Still no minutes. Why is the Comms team keeping us in the dark? 😭

Bumped into Thomas at the Valley this afternoon. He's going to be at the meeting and was looking well.

Said he'd been at the training ground today.
What time does the FF meeting kick off?

No, but I'm on the bench.

As the Bromley representative did you ask Thomas about the free away train travel for me?

I'm not the Bromley rep but because it's you I asked anyway.

Thomas said "is your friend taking the piss?"

I think that means he's thinking about it.

    (Quick reaction not the minutes)

Best FF I’ve been to, potentially my last though as City Addicks may fold shortly.

TS being there with his key directors is a huge big deal, because he can hear feedback and steer his team and that is what he did.

I was impressed with him and the buy in he seems to have into engagement and development of the support.

A lot of ground covered due to the 2 year gap (I’m told) and a lot going on with the squad stuff so long meeting.

No sandwiches in sight not even a biscuit.. ;)

Edit: I directed Lucy to this CL thread prior to the meeting, so at least some of the issues raised here would have been noted

    2 year gap?
Have there been virtual fans forums meetings during that two year gap that have had to happen that way due to covid?

No virtual meetings of the FF I think. We’ve had the odd consultation on a specific issue I think although that was a broader group, and there was a meet and greet with the crooks, but that was an extended group too and not operational.

Do you mean that the club reached out and attempted to consult on something of concern to them, and there followed a kind of ring round process in order to respond to what the club had initiated?

I recall it was about the first return to games in a reduced valley, over zoom

He was the one that injured Schwartz so that he could take his place........

Were you contacted by the club as an individual regarding fan(s) of the year because of no meetings happening due to COVID?

No, and I think I’ve mentioned this on here a while back and it’s been covered.

re biscuits I must pay more attention in future, plus I’ve always been in a clique of (n)one

I thought the Fans Forum chose the fans of the year, and it is a bit of a mystery as to how that happened in the absence of meetings.
I have enquired as to whether it happened via virtual meetings, or a ring round of the representatives who would normally attend, or maybe that decision was made by an individual at the club or elsewhere acting unilaterally.

Thanks for that. The fans forum did not choose the fans of the year even though the official site said it did. Mr Wallis says ‘the feeling among those involved’ led to the decision.
Maybe ‘those involved’ was a very small number of people, perhaps one or two, but not the fans forum as such.
Did ‘those involved’ consider Lauren Kreamer I wonder.

The OS never said the FF chose the supporter/s the year, we covered this back in May.
  • Not surprised at all if yesterday's meeting was more productive than any others if TS was present. The level of domestic issues are all things I can imagine he would be frustrated with and would see as largely fixable quickly or if not, explain why not and close them down. Hopefully it reflects poorly on the Director of Operations who presumably still sees the Fans Forum (and the rest of us) as the opposition. Bit disappointed that Razil appears to have had to refer the Fans Liaison Officer to this thread - thought that would be pretty basic for her to know what's going on and the strength of feeling over things?

It might have had something to do with recognising the outstanding input of one fan who answered the call on the 'siege night' at The Valley, March 2020 - remember the actions of the then chairman, when the staff who showed their loyalty were fired on the spot and the police attended?

Thank you for that. The decision was one made by the club and Ian Wallis was involved in a non fans forum yet non club employee kind of way?

It was more than one fan.
The question remains recognised by who, not the Fans Forum anyway.

Who else was there apart from TS?

Pretty surprised that the clubs Fan Liaison Officer doesn't come on the clubs biggest fans forum. Even if she doesn't post anything you'd expect she'd at least want to have a browse just to see what's going on and what fans are saying about certain things.

How do we know that she doesn't come on and have a browse? I suspect that it's highly likely that she does, given her role. And if she does, I don't blame her at all for not advertising the fact in order to avoid getting dragged into things or having her every word - or personal view as a supporter - picked over as if it's an official club statement.

From what I've seen from Lifers posts and elsewhere, she's doing a pretty good job too. IIRC, she's got the Fans Forum up and running again (successfully, based on @Razil's view); she's written columns for the website; she's written a column for the programme; she's met I think most - if not all - the fan groups; she's done an interview with TS where she put forward genuine questions from fans that maybe some people wouldn't have asked; she tweets and gets involved in discussions with fans. Other Lifers have referred to her replying to their emails and queries promptly, and I've seen her in the Fans Bar before and after games this season talking to supporters. Bearing in mind that it's an unpaid role and again, IIRC, she has a full-time job, whether she posts on here to my mind is neither here nor there given how much she is already communicating/relatively accessible.

As far as I'm concerned the Fan Adviser (agree Fan Liaison would be a better title) has been a good appointment by the club and she and they deserve credit for the way they're going about it. Not everything is perfect about it and never could be (we're a tough crowd to please!), but IMHO I think it's a bit unfair to have a little dig - especially given that we don't know whether she is on here or not.

Any other feedback from last night?
A whole range of topics covered

First question from one forum member went straight to the point about the squad/ performance situation.

TS vocal on simplifying things, improving the fan experience and interested how we might might build support. It seems like year 2 will be when this stuff begins to be addressed more.

He does appear to ‘get it’ (the benefits of real engagement) which was really positive and wants to emulate the feel and success of the past, he was very interested in talk about the period from campaigning to return to the valley and the fan/club convergence that followed which led up to the 98 final and reaching the premier league.

He seemed to buy in to the idea of creating a top class fan experience including the ‘loss leader’ concept to build support. Fill the valley was mentioned a number of times by the members, as were the Target initiatives, and that resonated with him - more on that in the minutes I expect.

I’m trying to establish the process for the minutes, and will update further when I know.
