Grew up watching Saint and Greavsie, as a young lad it was hard to imagine either being a legend of the game. But with age you look back at old game clips and stats, he was a proper legend of the game.
I saw him play a couple of times for Barnet in the twilight of his career in the 70's. Iirc they used him in Midfield but you could see he was a class above his team mates.
Sad news. In Japan such people our calledcliving history and he was that for English football I hope he family draws comfort from the great respect he was held in as part of that great moment in English football.
A Spurs friend summed Him up well on Facebook "I never see him play or met him, but I know what I had said to me in the Ground re different Spurs strikers I’ve watched over a number of years - “He’s good but He’s No Jimmy Greaves”. That comes from older fella’s whose opinion’s I can only respect."

A true great of the game. RIP Jim.
The greatest out and out goalscorer of his generation and maybe ever.
Another icon of my youth gone.

Enjoyed Saint & Greavsie (albeit less so after they criticised Carl Leaburn)
RIP
