  • Bolton are waiting to hear a response back from Gillingham for Kyle Dempsey… offer is around £150,000 including bonuses.
Surely we can match that or better can’t we?

We probably can, is he from up north  originally though?

If Dempsey is that good, surely better sides than Bolton would also be after him?

Last year when Gills were up there he was linked with Championship teams and we ourselves bid £250k in the summer.

He’s had some injuries this year but I think he’s very good at this level and would love to have over Albie & Watson.

Was that not Steve Evans though saying we'd put a bid in, which then appeared to be news to the club itself? - If thats the case wouldn't listen to that idiot, probably name dropping us to try and get other clubs interested.

I thought the chairman confirmed it can’t 100% remember
  • Dempsey is the flavor of the month but historically he has been a tidy midfielder who is good in possession but doesn’t add much creativity or scoring to a squad. Last year was the only year he really stood out in this regard.  If you want a solid box to box midfielder to compete with Gilbey, he would be a good pickup.  Personally, I think we need more end product and creativity from the midfield - that is not Kyle Dempsey.

That’s my point with him though he can play in the Gilbey or Lee role and rotate in, provide competition and he’s good value at 100k still with the potential to improve.

who would you rather Albie? Watson? or another loan.

At this level he’s always impressed me

  • Don’t disagree Maccn05.  Given that the stated goal was to bring in only 2 to 3 to the squad My preference would be to bring in someone who adds more to the attack.  If there is no one that fits that description given that the January window is always dicey then I have no problem bringing in Dempsey.  Just want temper peoples expectations about what he would bring to the squad

We’ve got Gilbey, Clare and JFC to come back to. I really don’t think we need Dempsey. We need a CAM now and a DM in the summer.

A couple of interesting moves being speculated about in L1.

Denver Hume to Pompey and John Jules to Wednesday. Both names who have been mentioned a possible targets for us.

I think signing Castillo ruled out any Hulme move and I can't really see a role in the squad for John-Jules based on who's already signed, think if you didn't have Leko then John-Jules might have been worth a look.

One that might be worth keeping an eye on is what happens at Hull with their new Turkish owner , looks like McCann is out and the owner has some Turkish signings ready to go. Could be that some decent options become available late in the window

Crazy really, he has them well above the drop after winning the league and just won 2 in a row and is sacked … I can only assume they want to bring in a Turkish manager.

McCann will do a really good job for another club in the lower end of the Championship / top end of League One.

I could see him pitching up at a Barnsley or a Rotherham… or dare I say it, Birmingham.

Well, I'm sure that will be a delight.

He played for Rangers for 4 years, surely he picked up a basic understanding of English in that time.

In Scotland, He learnt to say f**k you and nut someone. From my experience of hull, those skills will be transferable

To be fair if you learnt English in Scotland, you may as well relearn it

Sunderland being linked with Jack Clarke now - they are really going for it.

Robert | Pritchard | Clarke behind the striker is pretty scary at this level

Sunderland were surprisingly cautious in the summer, and seem far more ambitious in this window

I agree but I think what they did sign has worked out well and had a clear plan… they signed some good young players.

Less quantity, more quality… anyone know another L1 team that could have done with some of that

    Ipswich?
  • Ipswich have some real depth in attack. They've recalled teenage striker Tyreece Simpson from a loan spell at Swindon where he's scored 9 league goals

I think we offered £100k in the summer - about a fifth of what Scally wanted

(apparently we did admit we were trying to pull their pants down)
