Patrick Roberts is in the process of having his loan at Troyes cancelled so he can join Sunderland.
Man C paid Fulham a reported £12 MILLION for Roberts back in 2015 .. he played just once for Citteeehh .. a tiny drop in the ocean for the billionaires it seems
Lucas Akins has moved from Burton to Mansfield (not a long journey lol) .. I've seen him play a couple of times and was impressed .. this is a take out from wiki about his versatility .. dare I say we could do with an all round player of his ability even one aged early 30s
Akins began his career playing as a striker, before being deployed as a winger.[38][82] He is right-footed, but also comfortable using his left foot.[38][82] Akins states his favoured position is as a forward.[82] During his time at Burton Albion, he has been utilised in every outfield position, with his versatility being highlighted as a strength.[38][82] During the 2017–18 season, Akins was predominantly used as a right wing-back, with his work ethic being praised in one of the most physically demanding positions in football.[38][82] He stated he enjoyed playing there as he would find space when attacking against wingers who did not fulfil their defensive duties.[82]
We never seem to be in for these types of names the non league or Irish prospects. I wonder why? Scouting network maybe?
I can’t think of one since Aribo and trying to Sorba Thomas
There's several from non-league in the first team and u23 squads.
Josh Davison - Enfield Mason Burstow - Maidstone Nathan Harness - Dunstable Town Charles Clayden - Leyton Orient Lucas Ness - Met Police Hady Ghandour - Tooting & Mitcham
Weren't areas like scouting and the medical department really cut back in the last few year of RDs ownership? It'll take time to rebuild the scouting network and get closer to what's going on in leagues further afield.
