I think most of us thought that the team was undercooked for this test with the lack of practice leading up to it. But 8 wickets in a single session is absolutely unforgivable. Lack of match practice or not that is simply unacceptable.
Jas and some of the other DLCA bowlers have been bowling in the nets at Adelaide today. Unfortunately Seb had to leave after England's fielding drills because, unlike all bar one of the other DLCA boys, he had to leave before seeing them in the nets in order to play in a T20 for his club. Had a "thanks for coming" game as they chased down the opposition's 123 in 12 overs - and he didn't get to bat!
Adelaide was my favourite place of the 3 tests I went to last ashes (Sydney and Melbourne the others ) prolly cos it was just me and a mate so didn’t have to think where as the family’s arrived for the other two . Just a relaxed chilled place
All is not well in the Indian camp it seems - Virat Kohli has made himself unavailable for the ODI series to celebrate his child's first birthday and Rohit Sharma is unavailable for the Test allegedly because of an injury picked up in the nets. This has been brewing for a while but has now come to a head and Dravid will do well to get them both playing in the same side again.

I never know if I prefer the Max Basheer stand or the Fos Williams stand - both got their own character.
12 named for us - Wood rested and one from Anderson, Broad and Leach not playing with the latter being the obvious one to miss out. Richardson confirmed as in for Hazelwood and Warner passed fit.
no Wood .. looks like we play 4 fast mediums, one of whom is pushing 40 and another one just cannot be match fit .. and Robinson finished the test last exhausted after not too many overs bowled .. Stokes is unlikely to bowl ? .. let's hope the Adelaide evenings are mild with a gentle breeze to keep our chaps cool and fit for action
Ben Stokes looks like being fit for the Test after his bowling stint in the nets.
Stokes bowling very quick apparently, hit Root square on the head. Talking about heads, Kent's very own Jas had Travis knicking off twice in the nets. Keep warm Jas, you might be needed!
Really surprised at wood being omitted to be honest
It's unfortunate but they have to rotate and if they aren't going to play Broad and Anderson here, in optimum conditions, then it might be too late to do so. That means they have to leave two out from Woakes, Robinson, Leach and Wood. Woakes probably has to play because otherwise one of the others is having to bat at 8 (and support the likes of Pope, Stokes or Buttler) and that would almost certainly have to be Robinson - and he's scored 53 in his last 9 Test innings.
Anyone know the times of play for this Test ? In the back of my mind I remember that day/nighters have different break times - ie, that the 40 min "lunch break" and the 20 min "tea break" are swapped round. Is this right or am I mis-remembering.
I was originally thinking of getting up around 6.40 to start watching from the start of the middle session, but if its 20 & then 40 I may have to rethink things & get up before 6.30 !

Before the series all the talk was he is only likely to play 3 tests due to fitness. The day night test is where others will be at their most effective so will have been earmarked as one he will miss.
Playing him in back to back tests would be such a massive risk of losing him for the rest of the series so they are always going to manage him. Wouldn't be an issue if Archer/Stone were fit.

There is no excuse for these pathetic over rates. Fans are continually being cheated out of cricket and it has to change.

What game did you play in Joe?
The Ashes: Why England can still beat Australia despite heavy first-Test defeat
D/N 2nd and 5th Anderson will play, 1st (did play) & 4th Test Wood will play.
3rd, who knows?!
