I'm only in my 30s but thankfully saw him play, I'm sure he scored a hattrick against Millwall in a veterans' friendly in 1996, 1997 at The Valley..? I think we won 4-0 or 4-1.
  • i was too young to see him in his first spell so only saw him when he returned - i remember him being explosive over a short distance but certainly diodn't put a shift in like forwards are expeced to do today - probably why he answered in his professional ambition question: 'keeping fit'
  • Absolute legend.
  • Happy Birthday Killlllleeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrr
  • Happy Birthday Killer
  • What a great player he was, such a shame most of his goals weren’t captured on film, although most of the one’s that were were pretty special. Happy Birthday Killer!

  • Happy birthday Killer
    And happy birthday Allan Simonsen
  • My all time favourite striker. I was just getting "Charltonised" when him & Bob Latchford were atop of the goal scoring in the last weeks of the season and the papers were asking Killer to shave off his beard if he won the Golden Boot.

Only Sir Clive has come close to him in striking prowess since then.

  • My favourite ever Charlton player. I have met him and he took time to chat with young son. I was totally starstruck when I met him...
  • Happy Birthday Killer, total Charlton legend!!! Feel sorry for our younger support that never got to see him (and Colin and Flash), best days ever supporting Charlton.

Yes - Killer is one of the exceptions to the rule of 'never meet your heroes'.
