I sometimes throw in a word with none of the existing letters if I am struggling to think of anything that fits. Just to give more of a chance to pick up a 3rd or 4th letter.Β

Do the same sometimes if you have just green, you already know those ones, don't need to find out where they go like yellow, may as well narrow the options for the other letters.
Yeah, definitely a punt, but having 4 of the vowels in the first word gives you a pretty good start, and you can make a pretty good guess as to where to place them in the second go, based on familiar word patterns. Where this game would get maddening is if you guessed three letters that were in a similar pattern for lots of different words (though if you guessed early enough you could be tactical and put in words that contained as many 'missing' letters as possible (rather than guessing at, say 'BRain', 'CHain', 'DRain', 'TRain' etc)Β
