As a ST holder I have the choice to either participate or ignore offers such as this, in that respect it doesn't bother me one way or the other what TS/the club comes up with. The thing what does bother me is when will TS realise that whatever he does some of our supporters will never be happy!
Free away train travel will put a smile on my face.
This would have been a good offer to have done for the Plymouth game, get season ticket holders to bring other people at half price. Instead now the offer is seen as an increase as 3 previous games were free.
Does not feel like a joined up thinking policy at present.
There is no joined up thinking policy as he does not have the right people at the club advising him. Bring in someone like Varney or Kavanagh and start looking like we know what we are doing. I don't care how fucking hard his son can kick a football we are an embarrassment of a club.
Embarrassment of a club???
Can you explain that to me as I can’t for the life of me think how you can get to that
We are an embarrassment on the pitch. But off it a club to look up to, free tickets for local schools and season ticket holders friends or family, what’s not to love.
The fact that before a ball was even kicked in anger I stumped up for 2 season tickets - one for me & one for my lad. Now it appears I would have been better off buying just 1 ST & then getting a ticket o a match by match basis, sometimes free.
Also add to the fact that lots of people who cone on free tickets are'nt that bothered about watching the match. I spent the first 15 minutes of the Norwich game getting up & down to let latecomers pass & also having my view blocked by people getting into their seats. Almost missed Leko shot over the bar by having my view blocked.
Thing its alright keep throwing free tickets at it. But has anyone received any emails asking for feedback to the free tickets. Also cant the club just contact non season ticket holders on the database and offer them the tickets direct? Otherwise I'm going to start asking the club for 10% commission.
Not once in that statement has he mentioned that he acknowledges season ticket holders are being shafted by yet another deal for non st holders.
What does he think we should do, pay for the tickets and charge our friends full price? How many half year tickets have we sold? I suspect not many.
I do get it isn't the best offer in the world but as an example a friend and I went to the Peterborough/Coventry game on Saturday (he is a Norwich ST holder) and cost us £24 each to get in. We travelled with Boro ST holders and if there was such an offer on the day we could have shared the cost of one ticket between us, bought the ST holder a beer each, still been in pocket and everyone's a winner.

Bloody hell are people losing their minds on here? Norwich was an FA Cup game. There were no free tickets. Ignorant, whinging posts are doing my head in and there are far far too many lately.

Got a right to whinge, you seen the crap being served up on the pitch?

Just look what league we are in. We shall remain in this league for a long time unless things change dramatically. And under Sandgaard they won't.
Sandgaard’s money has bought us the luxury of being upset about on the pitch stuff. Before it arrived we were worried about which crook was going to drive us into the ground.
Doesn’t mean that we should never be critical, but that expertise should have given us some perspective.

I start to get the impression that some people on here have not done the grocery shopping for 30 years or so.
Or maybe Thomas and his team didnt realise that the punters won’t get it unless there was a huge banner above the announcement saying “Buy One, Get One Free!!!!!”
of course if they find Buy One get One Free on a six pack of Stella in Morrisons they won’t be complaining like this, I suspect. 🤣
It’s not “buy one get one free”, though, is it? It’s buy a second one you can’t use yourself and get a third free.
With the ticket thing, is it triggering people because the football is so shit at the moment, do they think it’s a bad idea, do they feel cheated? I can’t quite work out why it’s such a thing people are hung up on?

Serious point is that things only have a value because people perceive they do. If you change that perception by removing the cost too often you are likely to reap a reward. Some people who have paid will feel cheated.
With this promotion you’re probably doing more damage than good. I agree we will likely have under 10k for Fleetwood and the approach appears to be lacking any coherent strategy.

Fair point. I just can’t equate it with the sense of anger over it. I agree that after the Plymouth game, it made sense to do it one more time, otherwise it becomes like a Britain’s Got Talent act that you see once and that was good, but the act isn’t a professional, so perhaps doesn’t have anything else to add. However, the sorts of responses it’s been getting, I don’t get. I guess it’s people’s frustrations with how the season has panned out.
Not for one second did I believe it, but I think one of the worst things he could’ve said was blow the league out the water. I do genuinely he said it in his optimistic self, but that, coupled with how quickly it unraveled under Adkins and how poor the season’s been, seems to have warranted a lot hate toward him
It seems odd that there's no info retained on who uses these tickets, meaning we can't market to them. And I don't feel motivated to get a ST next year if the offers continue. Hopefully we are attracting returning or new supporters.
If TS wants to see The Valley attendances really improve , make next season's season tickets cheaper. £200 covered end , Curbs & west £300-400. Matchday adults £20 , kids £5.

Cheaper matchday tickets may help. I doubt that reducing season tickets across the board would do much - it would mean even more people buying and not attending every game, probably. As the limited take up of free tickets shows, it’s not all about price.
These ticket offers are losing their impact, correction they've already lost their impact, something which can be seen in the actual attendances (as opposed to the published ones)
Far better to space them out and make a big deal out of them, rather than this drip feed of special deals in the run up to games.
We're becoming like one of those clothes retailers, always having sales. You never buy anything full price, as you know the next sale will be coming along soon enough.
I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s an embarrassment but I do think this smacks a little of desperation and has not been thought through properly. Thomas has probably issued a simple “fill the place and make them love us/me” instruction and the reaction has been well intentioned but ham-fisted. If I was still able to have a ST I would feel the value of my purchase to be quite badly diluted by the amount of offers. I never missed a match when I had one and always slightly resented the footy or a fiver or Jackson 5 type deals even though I supported the intention behind them. But this campaign has been completely OTT. Fair enough, give a ST holder a freebie to bring a pal. But not three!!! Did anyone think through the logistics of how all these “mates” get to sit together? Was any attempt at data capture for future marketing made? Then repeat again and again. Now there’s an offer that virtually no one would take up even if we were playing well. It’s saturation. And to my mind it cheapens the product. The fact that we are even having this debate, however polar individual opinions are, shows that it has had a largely negative impact. This is the time for Thomas and his team to be keeping his head down and doing whatever needs to be done within his (diminishing!) means to turn matters around on the pitch. Quietly, humbly and without undue fuss. Giving away countless freebies to watch a shitshow and finding no take up and some disgruntlement from the existing punters is surely not what he/the marketing team had in mind. And our friends from other clubs are having fun with it. I’ve had a bit of gentle ribbing of the “you’re giving them away and your ground is still half full” variety. I can take it because I know that deep down Thomas and the gang are trying. And I am grateful. Short memories abound on here. But please, is a bit of structured thinking and professionalism too much to ask?
Getting silly these offers, bit embarrassing really.
I'm seeing this word a lot on here and I'm beginning to think I've been wrong about what it means all my life. What can possibly be embarrassing about cheap tickets? Are people afraid to show their faces at home or in front of their colleagues? Because the tickets are cheaper in an attempt to fill a stadium that would otherwise not be full? Insane. This all seems to boil down to a case of 'someone else is getting something and I don't like it', in which case their season ticket can't have cost that much because it was presumably a child's one. I do feel for the people who are hiding their faces and changing their names because Charlton are doing a ticket offer though, I wish them all the best in their new lives.
If this offer is driven by Sandgaard's wish to have a "full Valley" then it is wrong as the only way to have a full Valley is to have the team playing attractive football against other teams at least playing football and not hoofball which means the Championship, the occasional special offer can help but it must be backed up on the pitch.

Get the feeling there won’t be anymore ticket offers for a bit after this reaction. Unreal.
