Key thing for me is his enthusiasm and approach for next season seems high, talk of increasing budget further and at a competitive level for promotion, seems there’s a fair strategy think already in place for next year, that Jacko is clearly in plan for next season etc
Perhaps I misread it all
And from what I've just heard he definitely needs that type of person in his sphere.
Also, he's not really saying anything different from what he was saying 18 months ago. It really doesn't sound very progressive to me.
Just a bloke who's stumbled his way into the football scene who's going to have a lot of fun and lose a lot of money along the way.
I'm just grateful we still have a club. Anything more is a bonus10 -
He’s just digging a bigger pit for his money.0

From the Q&A thread ... and posted at around 3.30pm this afternoon.
"You know ... being the Head of large organization in the US is the same as being the Head of a football Club in the UK. It's a business ... right? And I am a successful business man.
I'm here quite a lot. Also, I now have my son, Marden, here too. And he can be my eyes and ears on the ground. So, we're pretty confident about things. You don't have to worry."
It's a gift. Thank you.
Sadly, I wasn't joking earlier.
The BBC Radio London interview shows exactly how Sandgaard thinks and why we are doomed to failure against his stated objectives.
Look out for job ads at The Valley for 'product promotional agents' (aka Sales reps) as we take our new brand of soccer football to the global market.
"Hey, Marden. Soccer's not so big in the Pacific right now and there's more than 2 million people out there. Why don't we do 'bring a Maori for a pound?".

I like him. I want him to succeed. But based on the interview I see nothing that suggests he actually will.0 -

Champs85 said:He’s made mistakes and he will no doubt make more but does everyone expect us to suddenly do a Southampton and shoot up the leagues? The guy is trying his hardest and spending money. He’s not out to fail so let’s cut him some slack? Not many people would put themselves in his shoes and he isn’t ruining the club like others have.
By no means is he out to fail and I give him full credit for putting his own money into this but giving him slack won't save him and won't save the club if we are still flailing around in this division in a few years time.2 -

2 years later we're in a lower league position.
It's his bullshit that's caused the high expectations. No one else's.
I'll get a S/T, I'll support the team home & away & I appreciate TS saving us.
But unless he's now under playing the situation instead of over playing it, he's seems to be a fantasist.11 -
I feel like a Turkey who’s just caught Bernard Matthews grinning at him5

I get that he can't go into details of strategy on a radio show. But if we are looking for evidence of a strategy, I can't see any. The attempts to fill the ground have resulted in an apology, there was the ridiculous "special" offers for being a ST holder, we have spent a lot for L1 on players who are mostly duds (on the evidence so far, anyway) and we are moving closer, week by week, to the relegation zone. Paid attendance mostly correlates to success on the field. The trouble with sport compared to lots of other business, I suppose, is that there is no guarantee of increased revenue following increased spending. Oh well.

Concerning that he still feels he can do without local "industry" expertise in running a football club.
If Thomas had bought a winery or a restaurant or a haulage company, I'm sure he would have used professional management to help run them, as they're totally different business sectors to his own expertise.3 -

I mean Thomas has better teeth than Roland because they have at least seen some toothpaste but Roland had much better hair.Thomas needs to embrace the baldness and lop it off otherwise I worry he’s going to have a Mouthall pube transplant on his bonce the next time we see him….3

God that interview is woeful.
‘On the one hand I’ll lose £8m this season, but also football’s easy and I don’t need to employ people that know much about it.’We’re an absolute basket case.9 -
If I got this level of support at my job I think I’d tell them where to stick it, especially if success is largely dependent on the bloke saying it and his “10x more knowledge than a sky tv watcher” recruitment specialist.
not sure how good JJ is at smoothing pieces of wood though, so maybe planing isn’t a strong suit

I worry about people who buy pubs because they think they have experience / know the trade from drinking there.16

If he thinks a couple of players and our under 23’s will get us automatic promotion next season (top two) the geezer is a fruitcake6

Really don't understand all the negativity. How can any owner actually know what they're doing - it's such a unique job and you just hope what you try works. Generally having more money helps.
We've got a guy who spends loads of his time visiting the club, doesn't want the club to be a financial wreck, and makes lots of time for fans to grill him. What more could you actually want?
I know signings haven't gone well this season, but I think it would be easy to understand why the club did the business it did:
Kirk - dud but was a star at Crewe
Lavelle - been a good player with an unfortunate injury
MacGillivray - had good moments and loved by Pompey
Dobson - been a good player
Stockley - retained & been a good striker with an unfortunate injury
Aneke - Excellent goal record for us - I accept the 3.5 years for an injury prone player is odd
Fraser - highly thought of at Ipswich
Leko - scored goals in a higher division for us
Lee - Played a crucial role in getting Luton promoted from L1
It might have worked. It didn't. Sandgaard is happy to try again and I very much doubt that next year we'll finish in the bottom half.

Personally I just think it’s bad timing for the interview. If we’d won the last 5 there would be none of the negativity.Im not sure I agree with all his points, but let’s try and treat it without having the current form at the forefront of the mind?3
