I'm currently in hospital and have been since last Wednesday, my cancer having caused, it seems, other issues, including a UTI and bowel infection. The pain has been excruciating and I've passed out on several occasions hence I was 'blue and 2's' in here. It's also been confirmed I do have a fractured spine and pelvis. However @palarsehater the plan your mum has sounds very good and a path to run along, it's similar to mine. Your mum will have 'ups and downs', it's important not to let either get too high or too low, as it becomes counterproductive. Please contact me if you need any help or advice, I'd like to think I could help. Stay strong for yourself and your mum, perhaps when we're over this we can meet for a 'drink' or 2 at The Valley!!
Results day today after scans Stage 3c1 or stage 4a
Plan of action
Get flu/covid jabs done asap, mum to go doctors tomorrow and sort.
Stent to be fitted and potential bag required - will be done within the next week to 10 days.
6 weeks chemo 1 day a week
At Darenth valley.
Then mri/ct on week 5 and assess
6 weeks radio/chemotherapy 5 days a week at Maidstone.
Then MRI/ct on week 5 and assess
Then 2 weeks bracknetherapy.
Chemo to be used paclitaxel and carboplatin.
Wishing your mum well PH...that schedule looks bloody brutal. Not to sure of your personal circumstances but I'm sure there will be a fair bit of driving involved....are you anywhere near Maidstone? Have you been to the Oncology Centre at Maidstone? I was the designated driver for my niece and we (me and MrsH) were regular visitors there for about 8 months so might be able to give you some advice on going there.
PH it sounds as though they’ve got a comprehensive plan in place. You hear about waiting lists etc but all is sorted out for your Mum, which is good.
Do take care of yourself. Having spent much time with my Dad in various hospitals when he was ill I know how knackering it can be. I used to try and put on a brave/positive face for him and come away drained. So take time for yourself too. Xx
Yes indeed @Redmidland, your current run of form is not unlike Charlton at the back end of ‘24. Let’s hope you can get a similar turnaround to the Addicks. I had my cancerous kidney removed yesterday. A three hour op here at King’s and I felt absolutely awful after it, but thanks to some powerful analgaesics, breathing exercises and getting the waterworks going again, they say I can possibly go home later today! They have sent the kidney to the lab to see if they got all of the tumour and will check the margins of the kidney & tumour. I will report back here at King’s as an outpatient in a couple of weeks for the results. Compared to others on here, I may have got off lightly, but I don’t want to sound smug, nor indeed “to count my chickens”. Very best wishes to you @Redmidland, @palarsehater and everyone else battling cancer. And very well done to @Tracey for what you’re doing for the Barry Kilby prostate campaign. I took the test last season and got a green light, but the screenings have shown up several folks who needed a follow up and treatment. Like kidney cancer, there is no national screening programme for prostate cancer. I’m not advocating that there should be one for kidneys as I don’t think it’s so easily detectable as prostate. I hope The Club’s testing campaign for the Huddersfield game is fully subscribed.

we are in Bexleyheath myself and my Mrs live with my mum some years ago bought her out, with the plan that she would retire and move down to the coast, so its around 30 mins each way for us the parking is free just can be a pain to park as we met with the doctor yesterday who was very pleasant but the anger is that this has been going on as some times and was misdiagnosed as kidney stones, a uti and then a operation was booked to remove a cyst on her cervix and only once the surgeon went to operate they realised that something didnt look right thankfully.
as positive as yesterday was so far no flu jabs or covid jabs available as its " out of season "

Yes parking can be a bit of a pain there. It used to take me around 30 mins on a good run from Dartford but it can take up to an hour or so if the roads are fuc...) plus we were having to drive up from Hastings, worth trying the small car park just past oncology on the RH side.....it's actually for those visiting oncology. The free parking is good, not sure how things will work for you but we spent many, many hours there. When we first went there my niece (on finding out it was free parking) joked that ''there are some benefits to having cancer'' she had a wicked sense of humor....bless her. Anyway I wish you and your mum all the best.
Very best wishes to your mum and you @palarsehater . Hope she doesn’t have to wait too long for the stent procedure so the chemo can start on schedule.
