  • Here for you @Bedsaddick if you need to vent before Wednesday ♥️
  • I saw the specialist yesterday and the latest is that i need an operation to remove a kidney and part of my colon where the tumour is.
Good news is that it hasn't spread anywhere else as far as they can see and the operation is 3-4 hours with a week to ten day stay in hospital .
Nothing like as intrusive as when i had my Pancreas and Spleen removed a year ago.
I'm lucky that i have private health care through my wife's work and my op is likely to be in the next two weeks
The surgeon said there is such a backlog for cancer surgery on the NHS ( he does private and NHS) the earliest i would have got the op is June and by then it would probably be too late.
That's great news Beds. What's life like without a pancreas? Does it affect your diet? (considering it secretes amylase, trypsin and lipase for digestion)
  • see you back for the MKD match - keep believing

    Thanks. Appreciate it.

I missed your update @Bedsaddick on account of being carpaccioed by the NHS myself at that point. Very sorry about your setback, and wish you all the best in overcoming this latest hurdle. The bastard disease won't be as determined to get you as you, and the rest of us on your behalf, are determined not to be got. All best wishes and tons of strength.
    Thanks a lot .

I have my operation on Wednesday morning at The Lister Hospital in Chelsea . My Anxiety is through the roof at the moment.
At least it's not too long to wait.
Just think in 3 days from now, it'll all be over and you'll be on the road to recovery.
    All the very best.

We're all different but I dealt with my pre-op concerns by simply surrendering myself to the process. You know you absolutely have to have it done (in my case as well as yours) therefore there's no choice. Trust the professionals to do their job properly - they will.
I'll be thinking of you on Wednesday morning, and looking forward to a good news update from you as soon as you're capable. Best wishes!

  • Beds, you will be in good hands. I wish you a speedy recovery and all the best, but I can't promise that CAFC will score 6 again next game! We will be thinking of you Wednesday morning.
  • Best of luck on Wednesday Beds

Having no pancreas means i have to take Creon ( A Supliment) before every meal ( ten tablets at a time ) and i have to adjust my insulin depending on what i eat . I have a sensor on my arm that warns me. All this sounds awkward but i'm used to it and it's a small price to pay to save my life. There isn't any real restriction on what i can eat.
Mate, I’ve been on insulin for 40 years, it takes a while to adjust but soon becomes 2nd nature. Good luck for Wednesday
