I somehow missed the updates earlier in the week, but I'm really pleased for you both @Redmidland and @lancashire lad, that's fabulous news. And it's good to hear that your follow-ups continue to be clear @Covered End
Good evening all, I just wanted to give you an update on my progress. I went for my 20th radiotherapy session today, with just 5 more to go this week. I was, surprisingly, called in to see the cancer consultant (radiotherapy dept), and also booked to have some blood tests, again not planned. My meeting with the consultant went along these lines "we are very pleased with your progress, and the symptoms you are now telling us about, your last session of treatment will be Friday, and after that, providing your blood tests come back in good order you CAN "ring the bell"!! Basically, I'll have no more treatment but will have a scan in 6 to 8 weeks time. If the scan shows the tumour has gone, I'll have further tests to confirm cancer has completely gone, if not and part of the tumour is still there, I'll be referred to the surgical dept to discuss removing whatever is left. I still have a bit of a journey and need to rebuild my fitness, BUT if I can 'ring the bell' on Friday morning it'll be a massive battle to have won. Thanks again for the support from everyone on this forum, you REALLY did get me through the lowest point in my life last September and October. Live, Love, Laugh and Be Happy xxx Cheers Malc xx EDIT- if I ring the bell on Friday, I'll video it and publish on here later that day!
Fabulous news, hope the continued recovery goes well. 2024 is looking up x
Good morning all, I thought Id give an update on my ongoing battle with cancer. I last reported I was coming to the end of my radiotherapy sessions, the last one was Jan 12th. I then have to wait 8 weeks to allow the treatment to continue to work before any next steps. Well, the 8 weeks have just gone, and I had a CT scan last Monday (4th March), I have an MRI booked for next Thursday (14th). Once all the results are in they will contact me to let me know what's happening next, will it be gone completely or do I need surgery? I'll know by the end of the month, just as I'm turning 69 (26th). However, the last 8 weeks have been difficult, the treatment has continued to attack the tumour and it has, at times, caused immense pain as my mates @TCE and @DaveStorry will confirm. Finally they have found a drug to take the pain away and I sit here today, virtually pain free!! The feeling is wonderful I have to say. Other bits of news that happened during the last 8 weeks, I sadly lost my job, they couldn't hold it open anymore as it is only a very small company and I couldn't tell them as yet when I might be fit for work again.....I do understand and don't blame them, but I need to pay my mortgage, so hopefully I'll find something as soon as I know my prognosis. Secondly, I didn't tell anyone other than Mrs RM, but when I was diagnosed last June with Colorectal Cancer they also found a small tumour on one of my lungs that they were going to keep and 'eye' on. I received a letter recently, after a scan I had during the colorectal radiotherapy treatment, and the tumour on my lung has GONE!! At last a piece of good news!! The next few weeks will be scary for me as I just want to be free of cancer again, but I can only hope at the moment. With CAFC now doing much better, I'm sure its helping in my recovery long may it continue!! Cheers Malc Live, Love, Laugh and Be Happy!! xx #fxxxcancer #DarkerThe ShadowBrighterTheLight
With the wonders of technology I keep in daily contact with @Redmidland and @DaveStorry via WhatsApp and the occasional video call when the boys are up to it.
Keep fighting everyone of you fighting this horrible disease x *Photo, me and the boys on route to Wembley playoff final 😉
Good afternoon all. I've had my CT and MRI scans during the last week or so. I now have to wait for the results to see if the tumour has gone or shrunk. The wait is about 2 weeks, so I should know at the end of the month, and yes I'm scared to be honest! However, it's my 69th birthday on 26th March and to try and repay the cancer care team for all they've done so far, I've set up a 'Just Giving Page'. I've set it up to raise money for Bowel cancer UK, with the aim to raise, if possible £150. I know how difficult times are and I appreciate not everyone can or will donate, especially with the current cost of living crisis, however if you can give one or two pounds I think we can get to the target, but every little bit will go directly to Bowel Cancer UK and may help save someone else's life. Thank you in advance Live, Love, Laugh and Be Happy x https://www.justgiving.com/page/malc-walden-1710586973624?utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=page/malc-walden-1710586973624&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=pfp-share
I didn't know, thank you for telling me! CL helps out yet again! I wonder if we can beat it? The more that is raised the more we can save lives. I'll be shutting the page down on 27th March. However, if you've already contributed or will do, my absolute heartfelt thanks for everything this site and its members do. I'm somewhat emotional (in tears)and very humbled, God bless you all, whoever your God is xx Malc ##fxxkcancer ##DarkerTheShadowBrighterTheLight
Hi all, Normally a reader of threads than a poster, at 67, just been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and Bone Cancer and been given a prognosis of 4 years, still trying to remain positive, things could change, but, best of luck to all on here, hoping to see Charlton in the Championship in the next couple of years.
